The Sunday Post: Vaccines, D&D, & Blog Hopping

Every other week I participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. The meme is weekly, every Sunday, but I’ve decided to do it bi-weekly since I don’t usually have that much to share every single week. So, here are some updates from the last 2 weeks!

→ I’m writing this on Friday but on Saturday (tomorrow for me, yesterday for you) I’m getting my first dose of the Covid vaccine! My state finally opened it up to anyone 16+. I’m genuinely shocked I was able to get an appointment so quickly. I thought for sure it would take a while to find an opening. I’ll admit, I’m a tad nervous to get it. I think it’s just the hoopla and controversies around it that has me nervous. Regardless, I’m excited to get my first dose! It will mean my husband and I will both be fully vaccinated soon (he got his second dose on Friday).

» Side note, if you live in California, the quickest way I got an appointment was using the app for Othena. I just kept checking for available times and got one within a few hours! (I don’t know if Othena is statewide or specific to my area, but I thought I’d mention it anyways)

→ In other life news, we haven’t really been doing anything. I discovered that Coffee Shop Ambiance with smooth jazz is really relaxing to me and I put it on whenever Emerson is asleep (my brain can’t handle Cocomelon all day). The one I listen to is Coffee Shop Vibes on Youtube. Highly recommend. We’re also going to be starting a new D&D campaign! Our current DM is moving out of state so we won’t be playing with him any more. And who’s taking over? My husband! It will be his first time DMing – he’s super excited! We should’ve had the first session Saturday (yesterday for you lol)

→ I was a little lazy with my health goals the last two weeks but it was “that time of the month” so I don’t care. I somehow still managed to lose weight? Even though I was eating pretty crappy. I’m down 26 pounds now! At this rate, I’ll hit my goal by the end of the year (I’m losing roughly 5 pounds per month). Is anyone else on a weight loss journey? I’d love to chat on the other social media platforms so we can encourage each other and share our accomplishments!

SHADOW AND BONE
by Leigh Bardugo

This is a reread for me…for obvious reasons! I might be done with it by the time this post goes up – but where I’m at right now…I have some thoughts. I might do a post to discuss my reread and then also compare it to the show. I think this book shows some evolution within the YA Fantasy genre that I would love to chat with you guys about! So keep an eye out of for that post in a couple weeks. Are you reading this before the show?

GIRL, SERPENT, THORN
by Melissa Bashardoust

I think I’m going to read this one after Shadow & Bone. It’s been on my shelf for ages and I really want to get to it. I don’t know why I always put it off, I’ve seen nothing but good things about it. With that said, I also just bought a whole ton of books and I want to get to those lol Y’all, my book haul in my wrap up this month is going to be ridiculous again.

I did a lot of blog hopping this time around!
So here’s lots of posts that really caught my attention:

How have you been? Read anything good? Watch anything good? Any accomplishments you want to share?

Great post! I’m getting my first dose of the vaccine tomorrow– and totally identify with the nervousness. 🙂 I hope your husband loves DMing! Most of my D&D experience has been with my husband DMing, and it’s been super fun. We haven’t played in a while, and this reminds me that we need to get back to it. Yay for reading Girl, Serpent, Thorn! I remember being surprised and really liking a lot of things about it. Thanks for sharing those blog posts, too (including mine!). I’m excited to check them all out. Hope you have a great week!

I hope your first dose went well! That’s awesome that your husband also DMs! I enjoyed the first session with my husband as a DM. He did really well for his first time.

I’m glad you got your vaccine. Things aren’t going very fast here.. so I have no idea when it will be my turn. And I’m a nurse.. so it’s crazy really!
    Your books look great.
Have a great week and happy reading.

Yay for getting the vaccine! I hope it will all go smoothly for both of you. Here in Italy…well, let’s just say my parents (both in their 80s) are getting it this week…at this rate, I’ll be their age when I’m eligible 🙄.

5 pounds for month are a great accomplishment! Sending all the encouragement for the rest of your path 😀.

Oh gosh! I’m sorry to hear that. My parents haven’t even signed up to get it yet. lol

Hooray for getting your first Covid vaccination! I hope it went well with no side effects. And another hooray for the continued weight loss! My WW workshop is tonight and I am hopeful for good results. It’s been a pretty good week of staying on-track.
