February Wrap-Up & March TBR

→ OOF. It was another month of being sick. We really didn’t do a whole lot because we were either sick or it was raining. So, it was a lot of lazy pajama days – I’m not complaining, lazy days are great! But I do tend to go stir crazy lately if I don’t leave the house 😆

I’m also just ready for a new month. I’ve had some family issues that haven’t been fun to deal with (don’t worry, my husband, son, and I are all ok, it’s just some toxic people we have in our life). Anyway, all of the drama the last few months have made me realize just how much I’ve been putting myself last. I’m ready to prioritize me, so that I can be a better mom, wife, friend, and person to those around me. Self-care is not selfish. Boundaries are ok. No is a complete sentence. I have to repeat that to myself on a daily basis lately.

I’ve been trying to be more organized and incorporate my bookish life into my real life better as well. I feel like I’m doing pretty good at it. I’ve even managed to blog hop fairly consistently. If you want me to show some love to your blog, please drop your URL! I have a hard time finding new blogs.

  • Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun – This is a series that just keeps getting worse for me. The first one was absolutely lovely, but as I continue, it loses its charm. You can read my full review here.
  • The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo – You can read my review for this one, but while this one was better than Daisy Jones, I still didn’t love it. I also recently saw a tweet that pointed out something I hadn’t really put together, and now I don’t know how I feel about the “twist” after all. WARNING, DO NOT READ THE FOLLOWING TWEET IF YOU DO NOT WANT SPOILERS FOR THIS BOOK.

  • The Last Thing He Told Me – I apologize for the title of this review, but I was tipsy and feeling spicy. I really didn’t like this book…but I also didn’t hate it. It just depends on what you’re looking for in a thriller. I will watch the movie (or is it a show?). I’ll see how Jennifer Garner plays Hannah…oddly she seems like a good casting for the character.
  • The It Girl – I actually enjoyed this one! I’ll have a full review soon!

The Last City // Spice Road // How to Meet Your Self // How to Do the Work

I also signed up for Kindle Unlimited (for the 500th time) so here are a few of the ones I immediately borrowed:

City of Gods and Monsters // Black Smoke // Stone Maidens // Broken Bonds // The Fine Print

We’ve been watching a lot of movies and tv shows lately. I’ve also been playing Hogwarts Legacy here and there. But if I shared everything, this would be too long, so here are three we’ve watched in the last week!

  • Shrinking (Apple TV+) – This was a filler show for my husband and I after we binge watched Ted Lasso. It’s actually very good!
  • The Sinner (Netflix) – I watched season 1 and 2 a while ago, but I realized how much I forgot when my husband put it on and I had no idea what was going on. So we started from season 1 and have been watching it all week. I still have to google things sometimes because I’m not fully paying attention (not the shows fault, just life). It’s a good mystery/detective show!
  • Finch (Apple TV+) – This was actually got me right in the feels. I put it on because I will read/watch anything that has to do with the end of the world. But this one had me crying by the end of it. I loved it. Highly recommend!

TROPE-ICAL READATHON

In March, I’m going to be participating in the Trope-ical Readathon. I’m on Team Fantasy! I have a tentative TBR but since I’m a mood reader, I probably won’t stick to it, nor will I read all of these. Also, I’m still waiting for my husband to pick the book he wants me to read for that second prompt. Anyway, here’s my TBR. Most of these are for the alternative prompts they offer, because I just didn’t have much that fit the original prompts.

Also, if you’re participating in this month-long readathon, I’ll be hosting reading sprints throughout the month on the Trope-ical Readathon Sprints Twitter! Make sure you follow me, all the hosts, and the main readathon accounts to join in on the fun! I’m going to try my best to make the sprints interesting!

For more information on the readathon, visit the website!

I also signed up for The Read Rover Book Club! The book of the month is Unmasked. I’ve never read a non-fiction detective memoir so that will be interesting.

How was your month? Did you do anything fun? What did you read/watch?

I didn’t enjoy The Last Thing He Told Me either. Hopefully you’ll enjoy the upcoming TV series.

So many good books here!! I know, I’m so ready for a sunnier and healthier March. I feel like we have all been sick in Feb, good riddance! I hope that March is much better for you and your health. YES- No is a complete sentence. It’s so hard to remember that sometimes. <3

GOSH yes. I’m so ready for clear skies and NOT BEING SICK lol Yeah, remembering that no is enough is hard. We don’t always have to explain ourselves, even if that upsets another person.

Wow you had a pretty solid month (aside from yanno, being sick)! Great time for reading and binging shows.

I hope you all are on the up and up. A few books on your read list that I need to get my hands on. I know Seven Husbands has mixed reviews so I need to just send it and see what all the fuss is about (one way or another).

Can’t wait to see what March holds for us both (: good luck on the readathon!

So far, we are not sick this month! KNOCK ON WOOD. CROSS YOUR FINGERS. PRAY. Whatever it is you do so it stays that way hahah Seven Husbands was good…but not amazing. It’s better than Daisy Jones, but that’s not saying a whole lot. haha Happy March!

I’m so very sorry you’ve been sick. I spent a lot of time indoors, due to weather in February as well.

The weather has been all over the place! Hopefully March brings clearer skies.

So sorry you had a rough February. Here’s to a healthy and happier March that continues into the rest of 2023. Hope you find some great new reads, too! 🙂

I really liked A Lesson in Vengeance. I also liked All the Dangerous Things, but I still loved her book A Flicker in the Dark more. Fun challenge – hope you enjoy it!

I’ve been dealing with a sinus infection, but I’m starting to feel better. Hopefully we can all avoid more sickness this month! LOL
