The Sunday Post: Getting Outside & Exploring Hogwarts

Every other week I participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. The meme is weekly, every Sunday, but I’ve decided to do it bi-weekly since I don’t usually have that much to share every single week. So, here are some updates from the last 2 weeks!

I’m trying the 1000 Hours Outside challenge this year. January was such a wash with all of us getting sick and all the rainy days, we weren’t outside for more than 8 hours the entire month. February is looking much better. Already we’ve spent 11 hours outside. I’d say that’s an accomplishment. We had a picnic in the park, went to the beach and saw dolphins, went to a nature center and did a scavenger hunt – it’s been a blast this month so far.

→ With that said, I also got Hogwarts Legacy and all I’ve wanted to do is play it. Luckily, I’ve been able to binge play it a couple of times this week already thanks to my son just being such a chill kid, and my husband being such a helpful person. It’s super fun so far. I love the open world and all the exploration you can do.

→ Anyways, it’s been a good start to the month. I just hope it stays that way. So far, no one has gotten sick (knock on wood).

THIS WOVEN KINGDOM by Tahereh Mafi

I’m still reading this. I was hoping to have it done by now, but I just haven’t had the time (or made the time) to sit down and read a physical book. I want to try to get it done by the end of this week, though. I am actually enjoying it; I just need to get better at making the time to sit and read.

THE IT GIRL by Ruth Ware

This is next up in my audiobook binge. While I haven’t made a lot of time to read physical books, I have had an air pod in my ear almost all day, every day. I just press play whenever I have a chance to somewhat focus on a story. I’ve only ever read The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware and I didn’t love it, but I always give an author three chances. I’m looking forward to this one.

Now that I’ve gotten back into the swing of things with blogging, I’m going to start including links to your posts again! I’m sorry to say that I forgot to save the ones I loved from the last couple of weeks, but I’ll make sure to do it next time. If you have a post that you would like featured in the next Sunday Post or Monthly Wrap-Up, please link it in the comments!

How has your February been? Have you read anything good? Done anything fun? What are you looking forward to the rest of the month?

Turn of the Key and the It Girl have very different feels but I enjoyed both. It’s been nice enough to be outside here and I like it. I planted carrots and spinach this week. It may freeze one or two night but they should be ok. Next month is the regular cool planting of snow peas, lettuce and such. We’re in the first month of the this year’s Read-along if you would want to post that.

So far, they are very different feels! The It Girl seems more of the type of mystery that I like. So I’m enjoying it so far. That sounds lovely to garden! We haven’t planted anything since we moved. Our backyard doesn’t really have any where to plant since we have a pool so most of it is concrete, so we’d have to plant veggies out front lol

Dolphins are so amazing to be around. And your game sounds fun- I haven’t played that one but I do play Lord of the Rings Online occasionally and it’s the same thing- exploring that open world is so relaxing!

I only play games on my phone or my Nintendo Switch. Is the Hogwarts game available on that? I’d probably get hooked on it if it was! Hope you have a good week!

YES! It’s on the Nintendo Switch! You should totally get it. It’s so much fun.

I’m glad no one is sick yet! I’m tempted to track how many hours I spend outside. I have an outdoor job, so I’d probably hit 1000 pretty quickly.

I JINXED US! My son and husband woke up sick yesterday, now I’m congested. My husband went to the doctor and he has the FLU so that’s probably what my son and I have as well. We can’t catch a break lol

What a great goal! I think getting outside is such an important part of staying healthy and in shape. I’m interested to hear how you do. Good luck!

It’s a nice motivation to get us outside! We’re such homebodies lol

1000 hours outside is a whole lot, but the activities you have been doing sound like fun! I don’t know if I could do 1000 hours in a year, to be honest. Spring and fall might be OK, but it gets too hot and humid here in the summertime, and often too cold and wet in the winter. But I am trying to get outside for a walk more often, at least. Today was unseasonably warm (67 degrees!), so I had a nice (short) walk while I listened to an audiobook.

I don’t think I’ll be able to hit 1000 hours but it’s fun to try anyway! I do live in southern california though so it’s never really too cold or hot to go out. Only seldomly. Even today, we sat out by the pool and had a barbeque lol

It sounds like you’ve had a very good February so far! I can’t believe you have dolphins where you live, especially at this time of the year. That’s got to be so beautiful and calming to watch.

I’ve seen Hogwarts Legacy advertised but I am really reluctant to try it. Every Harry Potter game I’ve ever played really hasn’t stood up to the books, so I’m afraid to try this one 🙁 I have started playing World of Warcraft again though! Does that count? ha ha.

    Have a great week x

So far this one is really good! As long as you go into it knowing it’s not set in the same time period as the books. Also, the customization for the character isn’t amazing but that’s ok.

I am so glad you are liking Hogwarts Legacy! I haven’t gamed in FOREVER and I miss it. Maybe I should try it out.

We also participate in the 1000 Hours Outside Challenge!

It’s SO FUN! I definitely recommend it! And that’s awesome! Drop some outdoor ideas for me because I never know what to do lol
