April Wrap-Up: Busy Busy Busy

APRIL WAS SO BUSY! Between a birthday party, a baby shower, soccer, taking Emerson to his first movie in the theaters AND his first hockey game (GO KINGS GO), we didn’t have a single weekend where we had nothing going on. Which also meant my bookish life went on the backburner – right when I was going to start writing some new content. However, everything happens for a reason, right? Even though I only read one book, barely did any writing, and very infrequently blogged, I did manage to prepare for a much better May, June, July, August, and so forth. I have everything I want to post, read, write, and share on Instagram much further out than I ever have before. So I’m excited for that! Now let’s hope I stick to all of it 😆 There’s a bit more on some upcoming blog things in the COMING SOON section below!

MY MONTH IN PHOTOS

This was a pretty average month for blogging. After a really great month in March, April just got away from me. Thanks, real life, amiright? Anyway, here are some of the posts you may have missed in April!

With all that hubbub about not doing many bookish things in April, I have plans. I have nearly the entire year of content planned out with so many fun things ahead! Here are just a few examples of what I have in store for you:

  • Multiple blogging series to help you with your current blog or starting a blog
  • Blogging challenges
  • Bookstagram challenges
  • Resources for new releases
  • Author features
  • Multiple giveaways
  • A whole new category – MOMHOOD that will have to do with all things being a mom and a woman!

I’ve been putting a lot of thought into how my blog can be more helpful to all of you. So, I hope that my ideas can help some of you throughout the year! If you want to keep in touch or be the first to know about some of the fun things planned, make sure you sign up for my newsletter below:

I literally read one book in April. So, drumroll please…

THE FAE PRINCES by NIKKI ST. CROWE

Y’all, this was such a disappointment. I absolutely adored the first three. Like, new favorite series kind of adored. And then I read this one.

I wrote a review for the series as a whole. It’s spoiler free, but it does focus mostly on this final installment. How could it not!? I only had good things to say about the first three, but this one had only a few redeeming qualities.

Alas, it put me in quite a slump. It took me 2 weeks to finish this one book (which is super short, mind you). I hope May is better!

→ 90’S POP

Does this need an explanation? Just look at the first three songs on this playlist. I rest my case.

→ SCANDOVAL

I used to watch Vanderpump Rules religiously until they fired Stassi & co. I just did not care for any of the people after that. Ariana? Hate her. LaLa? Can’t stand the lack of self-awareness. Katie? THE WORST.

But then Scandoval happened. I still hate all of them, but boy, am I entertained! Honestly, I think a lot of it is staged because their ratings were doing so poorly – but I’ll take it. I need my juicy reality drama. Do you watch VPR? Do you know what Scandoval is?

TIK TOK

With a super busy month, whenever I had downtime, I just wanted to scroll TikTok. Not even bookstagram. My FYP is all messy tok (love strangers’ drama 😆 ), dog videos, and true crime. What about yours?

How did April treat you?
Any book recommendations to pull me out of this slump?

April got away from so many of us!! My kiddo had his first tball game, my baby sprinkle, and lots of other things. I did manage to read a bit during the weeks though. Oh gosh, Scandoval! The show definitely dropped a lot since Stassi and them left. I still watched though because I just got sucked in. After this season, I’m starting to think that they painted Katy a certain way and Schwartz had a lot to do with that. HE is quite the jerk! I’m not even sure how this happened because am I the only one that thinks Sandoval is so creepy and slimy looking!? He’s also a big self-centered jerk! No wonder he and Schwartz get along so well. Honestly, I’m shocked it wasn’t those two who were in the relationship. lol

I hate them all, tbh hahah Stassi was even hard to deal with but she was funny and had the best character growth. Sandoval is totally slimy. Have you seen his band too? He thinks he’s the shit lol And seriously…the Toms should be the ones together! Alas, I am here for the drama!

hahahaha… omg.. his band… that he has to pay. Ridiculous!! He sounds SO AWFUL and I don’t know how people show up to listen to him. haha. He’s something else but I can’t wait for everyone to rip him a new one. I’m so ready for the finale and the reunion!!

Haha, I’m still not convinced that Scandoval is actually real or just a ratings ploy! So excited for the stuff you have coming up – I’m 7 years into blogging, but I can always use tips, and now that I’m a mom, it’ll be fun to read all that stuff, too!

OH GIRL I don’t believe it’s real AT ALL. Like maybe they already split but the DRAMA with it? Totally fake. Because they need the ratings. But that’s ok, I’m here for it lol

Yikes. I’m a hardcore scheduler, but not even I have ever managed to plan so much in advance. Good luck with the new content, and I’m curious to see what you have in store!

PLANNED and WRITTEN are definitely two different things. I’ve already had to adjust a bit because last week I was just not feeling it with writing blog posts. So we’ll see how well I stick to the plan but it is nice knowing it’s figured out for the most part!
