March Wrap-Up: Ch-Ch-Changes

» L I F E «

March was a wonderful month! Nothing too crazy or amazing happened…which is why it was so wonderful. I like a good, calm month full of routine and simple things. The biggest news of the month is that I signed my son up for preschool in the fall! I know, it’s a few months away, but I have to start preparing him and myself for it. First, he needs to be fully potty trained. Second, I need to mentally prepare myself for dropping him off and…driving away. I’ve literally never done that. I don’t know if I’ll physically be able to leave! Just kidding (sort of), I know it will be so good for him and I’m sure I will probably enjoy 3 hours 3 days a week by myself. What do I even do with that time?!

» B L O G «

I’ve been around the blogosphere for much longer than I’d care to admit. And look, I tried to switch to the block editor. I really did. But I am an old dog. And that is a new trick I just can’t learn. Something I can easily change is the type of content I post – which is exactly what I’ll be doing! When I returned from my yearlong break, I made the goal to just ease into blogging with reviews, Top Ten Tuesdays, and blog hopping. I feel after 3 months of that, I’ve been pretty consistent. So, I’ve decided to switch gears come April. Expect some more about my writing, mom life, tips & tricks, more reviews, more discussions, etc. I’m excited to, once again, be branching out away from the weekly memes and giving you more content that I’m truly excited to share.

NGL, a name change may be in the future…but as a self-hosted blog, that’s not super easy. So, it might not happen any time soon. I’ll be marinating on that thought.

Another major change coming in April is that I’ve decided to dedicate more of my time online to sharing about my current WIPs. While I have no immediate plans for publishing (heck, I’m still in the first draft phase), I enjoy sharing and connecting with fellow writers. Maybe one day I will publish! Who knows! For now, follow me on Instagram for lots more updates than I can share via my blog.

Here’s a quick look into my current two WIPS:

» WIP 1 – Adult Fantasy: This is an epic fantasy that I am still in the first draft/brainstorm phase of. What I can share is that there are four POVs! Yes, FOUR! I’ll be mostly working on this one during Camp NaNoWriMo this month, so you’ll be getting more updates about it than my second WIP.

» WIP 2 – Adult Romance: This is an interconnected romance featuring a motorcycle club and three female MCs. The FMCs feature a girl with a traumatic past, disability rep, and a plus size baddie. They all represent some sort of real part of my life, though fictionalized or exaggerated, but I’m already really in love with each of the girls. I can’t wait to continue working on this one and share more. Although, it will probably be a while before I share more about them…we’ll see 😉

ALL THE DANGEROUS THINGSREVIEW // LORDS OF PAINREVIEW

THE NEVER KING // THE DARK ONE // THEIR VICIOUS DARLING
Review to come once I finish the fourth and final book in the series! But so far, an absolute fave of mine.

» DEEP FOCUS PLAYLIST «

I’ve found listening to this type of music when writing or blogging has really helped me stay focused on what I’m doing. I get easily distracted, especially when I am on a laptop, so this has been a lifesaver. My digital to-do list is happy with it. I embedded the playlist I’ve been listening to the most below if you want to check it out.

» KINDLE UNLIMITED «

I resubscribed to Kindle Unlimited last month and I’m so happy I did! All of those The Vicious Lost Boys books are on KU, plus so much more. I enjoy KU because it has a lot of indie fantasy and romance on there, so if I’m looking for a unique read or a light one, that’s the place to go. I’m hoping my e-book reading days continue so I can keep justifying the $10 per month price tag.

» TED LASSO SEASON 3 «

My husband and I recently binged season 1 & 2. I genuinely did not think I would like this but it such a heartwarming show. Ted Lasso is one of the best characters and the entire thing is laugh-out-loud funny. If you’re looking for a new show to watch and haven’t tried this one yet, please do. It’s worth it – even if you don’t care for soccer.

Sooo…I blog hopped all month but totally forget to save my faves all month. Here are just a few from my most recent blog hop session:

I promise I will be better at saving my favorite posts of yours in April! It’s one of my goals for the month 🙂

How was your month? What was your favorite read?

Good luck with NaNoWriMo! Maybe all that extra writing time will get you into a routine that will help you miss your son a little less in the fall? Preschool is such a big stage in life, and I wish him the best of luck!

Also, thank you so much for sharing my post! I’m so happy you enjoyed all that ranting! 🤣

Thank you! I am already not off to a great start for NaNoWriMo, but technically the first day of April is not done. So I have time lol!

Also, I always love a good rant lol

Yikes! So many news! I’m looking forward to the new content, especially when it comes to your WIPs.

“I know it will be so good for him and I’m sure I will probably enjoy 3 hours 3 days a week by myself. What do I even do with that time?!”
Read? Blog? Write? 😉 …Worry? LOL, I hope you won’t, and I’m sure your son will do great before you know it!

Thank you! I’m nervous to share more about my writing, but I really just want to get out of my comfort zone and go for it.

And I’ll probably do ALL OF THE ABOVE. Worry…while I try to do something for myself. Even if it’s showering lol

So many changes! What an exciting time for you and your family 🙂

I only subscribed to KU for the first time last year. I was always hesitant to do it, thinking I wouldn’t use it and it would be a waste of money. I’ve been happy to find that hasn’t been the case!

Your WIP #2 sounds right up my alley! Since I’ve been reading the Hades Hangmen series it’s giving me all those vibes. 🙂

Yes! Hades Hangmen and Sons of Anarchy are definitely inspirations for that WIP!

Haha, my son is 16 months old and I’m already worried about kindergarten! He goes to daycare every day, so at least I won’t have to get used to dropping him off and leaving (although to be honest, there are still many days I tear up after I leave!).

    • Reply Molly's Book Nook 04/04/2023 at 6:30 pm

Oh that’s nice! I’ve never left my son except with grandparents. Then I’m in this moms group once a week that has a daycare but he’s still within the same facility as me. I know I’ll have a hard time just leaving him – but I also know it will be so good for him! (and me, tbh lol)

Congrats on all of your fun things coming, Molly! Sounds like you’re doing well with your WIP, and yay for some fun different content, too. I always have THE best intentions to write more discussion posts and share more about that, but rarely am “brave” enough to publish the post. 🙂

    • Reply Molly's Book Nook 04/04/2023 at 6:27 pm

Oh I feel you there (with feeling not brave enough to post). I’ve definitely felt that at times in the past. For now, I don’t have any super controversial topics (I don’t think at least). So fingers crossed every thing remains calm lol
