August Wrap-Up & Book Haul: Ended a Stressful Month w/ Good News!

I’m linking this as part of The Sunday Post meme hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer

Let’s start this off with an update from last week! For those of you that read my Sunday Post last week, you know that we had a bit of a scare with a possible cyst on baby’s brain. Well, I went to the consultation/ultrasound with the MFMS and…HE’S PERFECTLY HEALTHY! They didn’t find anything on his brain and everything else was perfect! He’s growing as he should be and looks so darn cute already (looks like he’s getting his daddy’s nose and my chin, but we’ll see 😉 ) Thank you to everyone who sent positivity our way ♥

→ This good news was really needed because if you have been keeping up, this month has just been one thing after another. So, after this happy news, I also celebrated my birthday (and my dad’s birthday)! I didn’t do much because my main celebration is a camping trip on September 10th for the week. However, if things go according to plan, my dad and I are supposed to go to a Greek festival! I thought he would enjoy that (but I’m writing this post before we are supposed to go so…)

→ Honestly, that’s it. August was a stressful one for me so I’m just looking forward to a relaxing Septemeber! We get to plan our baby shower (I’ve almost completed our registry – so much baby stuff lol).

ICYMI on the Blog:

Sorcery of Thorns

This one was so incredible! I understand all the hype! I did review it just recently so if you want to read my full thoughts you can check that out by clicking the title above. Otherwise, I really adored this. I did have some issues with it – mainly that I think the relationships needed a little more development. Also, I just want more Silas!

Alone

I haven’t reviewed this one yet, but it’s coming soon! This is a horror/thriller that actually surprised me! It’s on the YA side so it’s not overly horror (if you’re not into that), but it does try to give you a bit of a spook. Overall, I loved the ending. The twists! So. Good.

Warrior of the Wild

I also reviewed this one a couple of days ago, so for full thoughts, read that. This book was fantastic! Again, small issues with it like world-building and I found the main plot to be predictable. However, the relationships make the book so worth it. I love the development between Rasmira, Soren, and Iric – definitely needed that after SoT was a bit lacking!

I, uh, went a little crazy again this month. I discovered Tookish Reading Co (run by Tookish Candle Co) – which is an IG used bookstore. I purchased most of these physical copies from her minus House of Salt and Sorrows (Owlcrate) and The Merciful Crow (Fairyloot). Not pictured is Roar because it arrived after I took this photo (Instagram totally made me buy Roar, btw).

I’m not doing a TBR for this month again, so I can’t make any promises for what I’ll read next. As of writing this, I just started…

What’s a Greek festival? Does it revolve around food, or are there other typical traits of Greek culture?

    • Reply Molly's Book Nook 09/04/2019 at 6:44 am

Thank you! This Greek festival revolved around the food & some culture. They had music & traditional Greek dancing, etc.

I missed your Sunday’s Post, but I’m glad everything is fine now! <3 That edition for Shades of Magic is gorgeous, is that sold publicly or part of exclusive editions from certain retailers?

    I hope you'll have a relaxing September!
