The Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag

I haven’t done a book tag in a very long time, so I thought it would be fun to do this quarter year check in. I’ve been seeing this one making the rounds again this year. It was originally created by Roisin’s Reading on booktube! If you feel like doing this, then I tag you. This doesn’t need much more introduction, so let’s get into a quick review of my reading so far this year 😀

How many books I’ve read so far

I set my goal to ONE book for the year. I’ve read 13, so I would say that I. AM. WINNING.

A book that might be a favorite

THE NEVER KING (The Vicious Lost Boys Series) // The Dangerous Things (my review)

   Least favorite book

This was actually hard to choose just one for…so here are some that I have absolutely disliked so far this year. I will say, Daisy Jones was much better as a tv show (as I expected) and I will be watching the adaptation for The Last Thing He Told Me regardless.

THE LAST THING HE TOLD ME // DAISY JONES AND THE SIX // THE KISS QUOTIENT

   Most read genre so far

I think I’ve had a pretty good balance of romance and thrillers. I mean, I’ve only read 13 books so far, so there’s not much variety in what I’ve been in the mood for.

   A book that surprised me

I went into the first one, The Never King, because it was short and I had just signed up for Kindle Unlimited. Why did it surprise me? Because I did not expect to like it as much as I did! I binge read all three of these in just a couple of days. I even stayed up till 1am to finish one of them…I have not done that in YEARS. Literally. So, it was a pleasant surprise 🙂

A book that has come out in 2023 still on my tbr

THE WRITING RETREAT

I’m can’t believe I haven’t started this one yet. It came out right when I was reading mostly thriller/mystery, so I jumped on it when it was a BOTM pick. Yet, it’s just been sitting on my shelf. I know it’s only been a short time, but still. I really thought I would have read it by now. Hopefully soon!

One goal I made that I’m succeeding at

I think I’ve been pretty good at keeping up with my planners. Maybe not completing my to do list every day, but at least checking in every morning and night. Having one for my “bookish life” and my “real life” has helped too. Neither looks too cluttered and chaotic. It’s been feeling more manageable this year.

One goal I made that I need to focus on

On the same note of planners, I would say I need to improve on getting ahead of what I have planned – mostly with the bookish planner. I keep writing posts, taking bookstagram photos, or sitting down to write at random times instead of trying to get ahead/setting a specific time to do those things.

   New to me bloggers, bookstagrammers,
booktubers, and/or booktokers

I do not watch booktube and very rarely see booktok videos (my feed is fully of animal videos, cleaning tips, and other people’s drama 😆 ). I also don’t really keep track of who is new to me, so here are just some bookstagrammers and bloggers I love. I feel like this could be several posts in itself, so this is definitely not exhaustive. Please do not feel offended if I didn’t include you! I love following so many people!

I have The Writing Retreat on my TBR, too. I’ve been feeling a pull towards more thrillers!

Thrillers are my go to when I’m in a slump! They’re usually fast paced and I like the mystery. I hope you enjoy it!

You’re definitely winning! I don’t have many standouts yet this year but I was not much a fan of Mr. Perfect on Paper
