→ September was a good month! We went camping (as you saw in my last Sunday Post). I’m so glad we were able to squeeze that trip in this year since it will be the last camping trip until our son is old enough to go (I am NOT taking a baby camping lol).
→ If you follow me on Instagram, I shared that I finally got the new bookshelves I’ve been talking about for months! I AM SO HAPPY. We now have a wall of shelves (4 Ikea Billy shelves) in the dining room with all of my books. It’s so beautiful and I want to be in the dining room all the time (currently writing this post at the kitchen table just to be near my books). Also, because of this, my photos will be changing! I don’t have any for this post or Instagram at the moment but I’m planning on taking photos soon with the shelves/dining table as the new backdrop. It’s always fun to make a little change 🙂
→ Oh, and update in regards to the Gestational Diabetes test: the test wasn’t bad at all. Honestly, the drink reminded me of an orange Gatorade or a Sunkist. The good news, I do not have gestational diabetes! The only thing that came back on my blood work is that I’m slightly anemic – so now I have to take a prenatal AND an iron supplement. Other than that, everything is going great with the pregnancy! We finally get to start on the nursery now that all of my books are out of that room. Plus, our baby showers are this month! I’m excited 🙂
→ As far as the blog goes, I am very unorganized for October. I have no posts planned and I want to participate in NaNoWriMo next month. So, I need to fix this. I’ve decided to unofficially partake in Blog Ahead Challenge by Herding Cats & Burning Soup! I’m hoping this will encourage me to get more posts written ahead of time so that I’m not scrambling last minute. Especially for November (NaNo) and December (baby!)
- I reviewed Alone – an easy to read thriller
- I shared my camping essentials as a bookworm
- I reviewed 3 movies I recently watched
- I reviewed Unbelievable – a hard to watch but important Netflix show
- I introduced the new reading challenge I am doing called 30 Books Before 30
- I reviewed Station Eleven (spoiler: I hated it)
I don’t have a fancy picture like I did last month for this (because of the need to take new photos). I also don’t remember every book I bought – oops! But a quick glance at my shelves and I know I hauled these ones:
I am still reading Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier. It’s a somewhat long book (a little over 500 pages) and is a mass market paperback size (so it takes me longer to finish). Good news, though: I’m enjoying it MUCH MORE than Station Eleven. It’s a little slow at times but overall, it’s been a great read! I’m about halfway through now so a review should be coming soon 🙂 This is also part of the 30 Books Before 30 challenge I am doing with Milana @ A Couple Reads.
How excited are you guys for October!? I usually love November & December but because I think I’ll be in a huge panic mode those two months, I’m so excited for this month! It’s my last month to relax lol

Yay for good news! Also I am excited for Hill House eee
yayy!!!
Congrats on the bookshelves, and the gestational diabetes results too! I’m the same way with October- I always try to blog ahead and I have literally nothing for October lol. It’s a problem. 🙂
I’m looking forward to The Girl The Sea Gave Back. And I started Daughter of the Forest once, I think, a long time ago- I thought it was slow too and set it aside, but I do want to go back and read more Marillier at some point.
Thank you! and yeah…I’m currently writing posts the DAY I want to publish them. I seriously need to work on that lol
It can be slow but it’s also really good? Its kind of hard to explain lol. It’ll be interesting to review!
Your shelves came out so great! It’s such a nice feeling to have a big project done!
Thank you! And YES it is! Now onto the upstairs lol Gotta get that nursery done!
Good luck on your Blog Ahead Challenge! It sounds like you had a great month 🙂 I’m glad everything is going great with the pregnancy! I hope you have a great October!
Thank you so much! I hope you have a great October too 🙂
Congrats on the new bookshelves—hope you love them!! Glad your pregnancy is going well and you don’t have to worry about diabetes!
Thank you so much!
I got Serpent & Dove and The Bone Houses this month too! I just started Serpent & Dove and it’s really good so far! Hurray for no baby diabetes! I hope your October is awesome!
I keep hearing it’s great! For some reason the synopsis didn’t super pull me in but with everyone loving it, I want to get to it ASAP lol
Looks like you had a great month, even though no reading was had! I also have a wall of Billy bookshelves and it makes me INSANELY happy. Can’t wait to see the photos, and what a lovely haul!
SO HAPPY! I love just sitting here in the morning at our kitchen table with coffee and blogging. The books in the background just complete the vibes haha
Good luck with Blog Ahead. I am never able to get posts written too far out. It was a struggle to prepare my content prior to my vacation. Glad the test went well. I had anemia during my pregnancy too. The nosebleeds and the effects of the iron were annoying, but I lived to tell the tale.
So far I have totally failed lol. Still writing posts either the day of or just 2 days before >.< Oops. I need to just set aside a day for it! What effects did you have? TBH, I don't feel any different? So, I don't know what negative effects anemia is having on me haha
The extra iron gave me massive gas and backed me up. Like having a person inside me wasn’t uncomfortable enough.
OMG I feel you there (but tbh that’s been kind of my whole pregnancy lol)
Your baby will be born in December? I’m a December kid! (my birthday is on the 14th). I’ve always loved it, also because, while I was born near Christmas, it wasn’t near enough for me not to have a double set of gifts (which, to me, is better than a single massive one). I hope your baby will be born before Christmas as well, so you get to celebrate twice!
Also, I’m glad to hear everything’s going well for you, health-wise. I hope you’re fully enjoying your new bookshelves and your “last month to relax”, but it’s great that you’re still looking ahead and not planning to take a long break for when your baby arrives! I’m sure you’ll be able to handle both things beautifully, since you sound like such an enthusiastic and energetic person (see: going camping while far into pregnancy LOL).
AW I love that! My husband’s birthday is in January – you would think that’s far enough away from Christmas but he grew up with his birthday and Christmas gifts combined haha! I don’t do that at all. Although, this means that December-January is going to be EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE lol
You know, I hadn’t even thought of taking a break once the baby is here? Like, it didn’t even cross my mind? lol So, we’ll see how that goes! I’ll just get a lot pre-written and have some photoshoots to HOPEFULLY last a bit lol
