September Wrap-Up & October TBR

Happy October! Anyone else decorate for Halloween on October 1st? I did! It became a tradition for me to do it the first day of October when we bought our home. I wasn’t going to because I felt there is almost no point to do it this year, but no, I told myself it’s important to stick to traditions (no matter how new they are)! Anywho, do you have Halloween traditions and/or plans?

→ September was kind of a blur. I don’t really remember what we did – every month has been the same since March to be honest. Although, we did start having our weekly Friday dinners. The grandmas come babysit while my husband and I go out for a date night. It’s been nice to have something to look forward to each week. Also, putting on actual outfits and makeup is really nice. It’s the small things that make a huge difference these days.

September wasn’t as great of a month for me as August was – I totally blame The House in the Cerulean Sea. It took me nearly 3 weeks to finish that one (I read Immunity in between for a break). Here is what I read (a review will be coming for 3 of them soon):

Ok, I have a LOT on my list this month. There is no possible way I will finish all of these (I’m already reading outside of my TBR, oops). I’m just going to share a list instead of photos to make it easier. Have you read any of these yet? Are you planning on reading any of them?

I don’t usually sign up for book tours (in fact, I never have) but I did for the first time ever for the book Forget Me Not by Anca Antoci. It sounded interesting to me so hopefully it lives up to that! Also, I don’t read vampire books (the last one I can recall reading was Twilight lol), so I wanted to branch out into that paranormal romance territory. I feel like I’m missing out on something not reading that genre lol. I’m also currently listening to the audiobook of Catherine House by Elisabeth Thomas which is super interesting so far! It gives me The Order vibes (the Netflix show) but more mysterious.

What did you read in September? Did you have any favorites? Any let downs?

I really don’t do anything for Halloween except have candy ready for kids (in normal years) but I still get super excited about the holiday!

It’s my husbands favorite holiday for some reason lol I’m not a huge fan…I was when I was younger and in my early 20s because costumes and drinking haha Now, as an adult with a child who isn’t old enough to go trick or treating, it’s a “meh” holiday to me lol Though, I do love watching scary movies!

My kids made me buy a pumpkin the first day of October! They’ve been itching to put up decorations, but we’re trying to move into our new house and I don’t want to decorate twice. Bummer you didn’t like The House in the Cerulean Sea – – I loved that one. A Heart So Fierce and Broken was amazing!! I can’t wait for the third book.

hahah oh my! We unfortunately cannot have pumpkins because my husband is allergic. Or if we do, he’s in a full gear of protection while carving them lol Usually we just skip out but now with a son, I imagine we will start getting them (Assuming our son is not also allergic) >.<

You may not have read a ton last month, but it looks like you did some good ones! September sure did go by in a blur. I used to start decorating for Halloween right away, but I haven’t actually decorated much the last couple years. In my last house, I just didn’t have the space, and in my new house, I haven’t decided how I want to decorate yet. Although I did buy a big blow up lawn Halloween decoration, which I think I can put out now that it is October! Hope you have a great month!

My decor is slightly different this year in that everything inside has to be far away from the baby lol So there isn’t nearly as much. I’m not too fancy with my decor, though. All of it is from the 99 cents store lol and YES go put out that big blow up thing!

I had a great reading month in September! Some favorites include Uprooted by Naomi Novik and The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin. Piranesi and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue are also on my TBR.

I haven’t read any of those books; I haven’t heard of some of them. I’m guessing YA? I read lots of genres but not so much YA (or horror). The month did go by really quickly and yet some days I just want to be finished. I’m glad you are getting out and for a little normal (be safe). We stay home and are busy with projects here.

Yes, they’re mostly YA. I basically read exclusively YA lol. I try to branch out here and there but I find YA to be easy and fun, which I want my reading to be lol.

“It’s the small things that make a huge difference these days.” Isn’t that the truth? If anything good has come from these strange times it’s that I have a new sense of appreciation for so many little things that I used to take for granted. And nowadays having a reason to get dressed, get presentable, and go out is cause for celebration. 🙂 I keep meaning to try that Brigid Kemmerer series. Fantasy really isn’t me genre but I love Kemmerer’s contemporaries so I tempted to give it a go.

Gosh, yes. It doesn’t take much to get me excited for something anymore lol. I haven’t read Kemmerer’s contemporaries but I want to! I hope you enjoy her fantasy if you get to it 🙂

I was a ball of anxiety in September, which was not fun, but now I’m doneee and I’m just taking a break for a while before starting my job search. Wish me luck!

Aw I’m sorry! I’m glad that you’re better now. Enjoy the break 🙂
