April Wrap-Up + May TBR

So my husband was Instagram famous in his community this week 😆 My husband is really into Warhammer and he has a painting account on Instagram (he just posts his painted models). He doesn’t take it too seriously and only posts every now and then. Well, this week he posted a WIP of a really cool model and it blew up. Then he posted the finished product a couple days later and that blew up even more. He got over 7,000 likes on that photo! LIKE WHAT? What magic spell did he cast?! Well, to even add to the excitement, the official Warhammer account contacted him and asked to feature the post in their official Warhammer TV livestream! So, yeah, that’s cool, and my 6 years in the Bookstagram community is just a complete joke apparently 😆 #IAmNotJealousISwear but also #Proud

If you’re interested in watching when they featured his model, and to see the guys awesome reaction, you can do so at this link (I already have it set to start when my husband is featured): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1004988644?t=00h31m32s

→ Honestly, since my last The Sunday Post, this is like the only cool thing that has happened. It’s been a very standard week (this is why I usually do these things every 2 weeks). Overall, April was a good month, though. We started a new D&D campaign, my husband is fully vaccinated, I’m halfway there, we went on date nights, and saw a movie IN a theater. So, yeah, I’d say April was pretty darn good – but also went really fast!

I actually did really well this month! I didn’t get to every book on my TBR but I read more than I thought?! I thought I read like 3 books this month, but nope, I actually managed 9?!

XENOS // LUTHER // SHADOW & BONE // NAMESAKE // THE LOST APOTHECARY // THE LAST WISH // ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE // EVERY VOW YOU BREAK // THE LOST VILLAGE

I added A LOT of books to my TBR this month. I mostly purchased books but I did get a few for review. I typically don’t sign up to review books but all of the ones I received have no deadline (which is perfect for me). Also, I got some from Netgalley! I am trying that again – but I didn’t request a whole bunch. I got 4 Read Now so I can try to stay on top of it and boost my score, then request. Anyways, I’m not going to include a book cover for each one because there are just too many but I did include the Goodreads link to each one below!

Physical Books I Purchased:

THE HUNTING WIVES // WHAT COMES AFTER // THE GIRL FROM SHADOW SPRINGS // ODIN’S CHILD // THE ELECTRIC KINGDOM // DUSTBORN // THE WALLS OF ORION // HALLS OF SMOKE // HONOURBOUND // TREASURE ISLAND // WITCHES STEEPED IN GOLD // THE HOBBIT // THE BONE SHARD DAUGHTER

Ebooks I Purchased:

SEA OF RUIN //  DEAD WOMAN CROSSING

Books For Review:

BYPASS THE STARS // EMMIE AND THE TURDOR KING // DEATH ISLAND: THE DISCOVERY // DEATH ISLAND: THE JOURNEY // MU // THE THUNDER HEIST // THE FIRST SISTER // ERIK THE RED // AMONG THIEVES // EMBER OF NIGHT

I’m currently reading Girl, Serpent, Thorn. I’m struggling with it a bit. The beginning just isn’t grabbing my attention – but I am buddy reading it with someone and they’re further along than me and said its getting better. Hopefully by the time this post goes up (I’m writing this on Friday), I’ll be further along or finished.

I’m also going to pick up King Arthur as a buddy read with my husband. We’re just planning on reading it throughout the month so it will be a “current read” all month long.

After Girl, Serpent, Thorn I’m thinking of picking up one of my new fantasy books! I’m thinking The Bone Shard Daughter (since that is a group readalong) but also I’m kind of drained from these “obligated” reads, so I think I’ll pick up something from my TBR that doesn’t match any prompts to a challenge and isn’t a BOTM choice for a book club 😆 Is anyone else like that? If you HAVE to read something, you don’t want to anymore?

Alright, that was my month! It was a good month and I’m looking forward to May! How was your April? Anything exciting happen? What is something in May you are looking forward to?

What a win! Hurray for your husband. I always enjoy window shopping the Warhammer stores. It’s such a craft.

The Lost Village! I hardly come across mysteries I’ve read other than Alex’s blog. It was SO FULL of suspense, even though it was also a bit straight forward, I absolutely loved it. I’m curious to read later how you liked it. Meanwhile I will look into both The Lost Apothecary and Every Vow You Break. 🙂

The Lost Village was interesting! I enjoyed it but also the ending wasn’t as good as the rest of the book. The Lost Apothecary is good, but Every Vow You Break was a bit much for me >.< lol

That’s cool for your husband. And I’m not at all envious…. nope…!

It’s so strange how you can consistently post things on the internet and nothing but then something just clicks like it did for your husband 🙂 I’m glad his model got some recognition!

Hope you have a good week.

Wow that is so cool about the Instagram thing! And that is a very cool paint job! Congrats to your husband! I’ve never played Warhammer but it looks pretty fun.

Every Vow You Break looks good.

That’s so cool for your husband’s instagram! Reminds me I’ve been meaning to do a blog post of our mini-painting, we’re very much beginners, but it’s a lot of fun and easier than we thought it would be

YES! Do a post about your painting! I want to seeeee!

How cool that your husband’s post got so much attention! And those hosts in the video were definitely into it. 🙂

My reading in April was the same… 9 books, which is pretty much my norm.

Yeah! I was happy for him lol It takes a lot of time to paint those miniatures so when something gets so recognized by the community, I’m sure that’s an awesome feeling!
