I Must Defeat The Dust Bunnies On These 10 Fantasy Books

I used to participate in Top Ten Tuesday when I first started blogging and it was a wonderful way to meet fellow bloggers! I thought with coming back from a hiatus, and a bit of a lack of inspiration on my part, participating again would be a great idea. So, every Tuesday (if the topic interests me) I’ll be sharing a Top Ten Tuesday post. Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl! Make sure to check out her page explaining everything you need to know, including future topics.

I’m putting a bit of a spin on this weeks topic so that it can fit with my fantasy theme for Wyrd and Wonder. Besides, this weeks topic is 10 Recent Reads and I don’t think that’s fun for me since I typically review books right away. I would just be regurgitating the same information. Instead, I took a look at my shelves and realized I have a lot of books I need to read. Especially a lot of fantasy books. So, I wanted to share not 10 recent reads but 10 fantasy books that I already physically own that I really want to read! Let’s get into it (these are in no particular order)…

  • FROM BLOOD AND ASH by Jennifer L. Armentrout – GoodreadsHow can this not be on the list? I have been seeing this book everywhere. Literally. It’s been taunting me. I finally picked it up (not one copy, but two [this is because of me wanting a hardcover but amazon only having paperback – bookworm problems, eh?]) Everyone seems to love this book so it’s definitely top priority for me. In fact, I started it this weekend! I am so excited. Please be good.
  • LEGENDBORN by Tracy Deonn Goodreads – Demons? Secret societies? Merlin? Arthurian retellings?! This one sounds like a fun ride and I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. It has a 4.48 rating on Goodreads and that’s wildly good. Naturally, I want to read it soon!
  • SARAH J MAAS Goodreads – Yeah, just Sarah J Maas because I have a lot of catching up to do. To be honest, I’m kind of over the ACOTAR series, though I still need to finish. What I’ve been really wanting to get to is Throne of Glass! I read the first one many years ago, loved it, but never continued with the series. I think there are just so many books I get overwhelmed and think I’ll never catch up. I want to make it a priority in the second half of 2021 to start that series again.

  • VIPER by Bex Hogan – Goodreads – I bought this one on a whim one time. I came across it on Instagram and immediately wanted it solely because of the cover, then I read the synopsis and thought PIRATES? Yes please! Then on my shelf it went. Not read. I’ve seen it pop up more often on blogs now so I want to get to it soon (maybe summer, because pirates, obviously).
  • ODIN’S CHILD by Siri Peterson – Goodreads – I discovered this book because of The Librarian Box (which is a subscription box that I signed up for recently and their customer service is top notch y’all). I missed the particular box this book was featured in but it sounds so interesting! Gods and Norse inspired, I had to have it. It was recently translated to English so I hope they release the rest of the trilogy in English soon was well!
  • SHATTER ME SERIES by Tahereh Mafi – Goodreads – This one is kind of a mixed bag for me. I read the first one and I hated it. I gave it  a 1 star. I almost DNF’d it. Yet, I’m curious and want to continue reading. One of the major issues for me was the writing but I’ve been told it gets better as the MC grows in the series – which I find kind of interesting. Anyways, I bought the first 3 in the series recently which means I should read it kinda soon? Right? 😆

  • SERPENT & DOVE by Shelby MahurinGoodreads – I got this in an Owlcrate box not knowing a whole lot about it. Now it’s blown up and everyone has read it and loves it…except I haven’t opened it. This is one I’m not 100% sure I will enjoy because I’m not a huge fan of books about witches. I’ve yet to read one that I like so if I read this and love it, it will be an amazing moment in history!
  • NAME OF THE WIND by Patrick RothfussGoodreads – Y’all. I don’t even know what this book is about, yet I bought this 10th anniversary edition which was like $40 USD. 😆 It’s looooonnnng as heck and super intimidating. So I’ve just been appreciating the cover for now, but I will defeat this one some day. I will.
  • ROAR by Cora CarmackGoodreads – I saw Rage come out and everyone being so excited for it. I wanted to know what the hoopla was about so I bought Roar. And it quickly became another book I put on my shelf to collect dust. I still want to knowwwww.
  • GRISHAVERSE by Leigh Bardugo – GoodreadsI want to finish all the books. I’ve read the original trilogy and Six of Crows but I basically want to reread everything I’ve read then finish all the other books I haven’t read. It’s a lot and overwhelms me a bit (the downside of falling behind on series). Also I have not watched the show yet so shhhhh

Have you read any of these?
Any you think I should jump on right away?

Count me in with From Blood and Ash! JLA is one of my favorite authors and even though fantasy is NOT my genre, I nabbed that one as soon as it released. And it’s sat on my shelf ever since. Gah! I need to get it in gear and just read it!

hahahaha I’ve never read JLA but I know everyone loves this one. I actually put it down temporarily. I was getting kind of bored and I have some books for review to catch up on >.<

Oh that’s a good spin on the list! I should have done something like that, because I feel like mine is definitely repeating the sae books I’ve reviewed recently! I haven’t read that many of these, but I can say Legendborn is incredible!

I’ve heard only good things about Legendborn! I need to get to it asap!

Love your twist! I own Throne of Glass but haven’t read it yet. And I finally read the Shadow and Bone series and Six of Crows duology last year but I already want to reread Six of Crows. Ha! I still need to read King of Scars. 🙂

Six of Crows is better than Shadow and Bone! I reread S&B and it definitely wasn’t as good as the first time I read it lol

From Blood and Ash is my all-time favourite fantasy romance series!!! I’m so excited that you’re reading it!!! 😍

Its on hold because I was getting bored and I have a few books for review to catch up on >.< But don't worry, I Will be continuing it! I'm just waiting for Hawke to make a reappearance lol

Six of Crows came to mind for me when I read your topic because I have that one too but haven’t read it yet. Plus with all the Grishaverse attention lately I’m super curious. The shatter Me series I’ve been curious about too, probably because of those awesome covers!

    • Reply Molly's Book Nook 05/11/2021 at 5:41 am

Six of Crows is better than Shadow and Bone, so if you’re going to read either of those, I recommend Six of Crows!

I can’t wait to hear your thoughts about From Blood and Ash. I loooooove that series so much and just finished the third book. I also read Shatter Me years ago.. but honestly can’t even remember what’s it about. Ugh.. Shame on me.

    • Reply Molly's Book Nook 05/11/2021 at 5:40 am

I put it down for now because I was getting so bored lol I’m about 100 pages in and nothing has happened yet. BUT I will be picking it up again, I just have a few books for review that I need to read first. The only thing I remember about Shatter Me is that the strikethroughs in the writing annoyed me and by the end I thought of X-Men lol

  • Reply Tanja 05/06/2021 at 12:58 pm

I read the first three books of Shatter Me series, loved the story, didn’t love the writing. It’s too melodramatic for me. But I love enemies to lovers stories and that’s one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy the sequels more than the first book!

    • Reply Molly's Book Nook 05/11/2021 at 5:39 am

I think that’s what bothered me too! Plus all the strikethroughs and what not. But I heard that it gets a bit better with that as her mental state improves? I don’t know lol

I need to finish ToG and The Lunar Chronicles but honestly… I’m already losing interest in them I think I should give up already lol.

I gave up on TLC. I didn’t like Cress and had no desire to finish her book lol
