Avengers: Infinity War // Marvel, Big Fat Liars

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

RATING: ⭐⭐

I haven’t reviewed a movie for a while and even though I saw this a couple of weeks ago, I will try my best to remember all of my thoughts. There might be spoilers ahead!

First things first, this movie was one giant filler and could have been essentially skipped for the following reasons:

  1. This movie was just about Thanos collecting the stones. Which obviously I get, he needed the stones to snap his fingers, but I just hated that it was an entire movie about it. I think they could have shown him getting at least a few of them in the other 20 Marvel movies, then focused on his getting 1-2 (like the soul stone) in Infinity War, then finish the movie with the plot of Infinity War 2 – instead of having 2 different movies.
  2. Marvel is a big fat liar. We. Know. They. Are. Not. Dead. (well most of them). A movie slated for 2019, 2020, and most likely a sequel for a movie that made them billions  & shattered records – nice try Marvel. Yes, I know most of that was obvious, but that is the point I am trying to make: The movie was pointless because we know it was a big fat lie.

Conclusion: 2 1/2 hours wasted.

Another thing I didn’t like: How small of a role Groot had. So much teen angst potential.

What did I like? Here are a few things:

  1. How Thanos had to get the soul stone – It was a great conclusion to that relationship.
  2. The humor, especially with Thor and Starlord – obviously.
  3. That this movie basically just shows how bad ass Thor is and I’m not even a huge Thor fan
  4. Pirate Angel is my new favorite name for Thor
  5. Lots of action, of course.

What were your thoughts? Talk to me!

I’m sorry you were disappointed by this! I actually loved it and was basically in shock at the end of the movie. Yeah, I know most of these characters are going to come back (because contracts, sequels), but it was still kind of heartbreaking to watch them all turn to dust, especially at the rate it happened, and I’m worried that a lot of the characters will flip and the ones that survived this one will actually die in the next one. I did think Thor was the MVP of this movie!

I kind of wanted the end of this movie to be the end…no more movies lol

Ahhh I loved and hated this movie! And Yes, I am pretty sure they are lying about most of the deaths but I have a feeling some of them are “permanent” (I put that in parenthesis because they are only permanent in this story line they could be re-booted in another arc) I wasn’t a huge fan of Thor before either, but after Ragnorok and this movie, he is now my favorite!

Oh yes, I think the earlier deaths in the movie are permanent…but that ending. Ugh…haha

I definitely enjoyed the movie a bit more but I do agree with some of your points! I definitely don’t think it was the best Marvel movie but, it is one of the better ones in my opinion. I actually enjoyed that the movie was mostly about Thanos, but like I said in my review, I think the movie was A LOT. It felt like I was watching 5 different movies and it didn’t really pull off until the last few minutes when they all came togath, and even by that point not everyone had come together anyway???
I did enjoy the film because I thought Thanos as a really interesting character, and even a realtable villain in some ways. But, I do agree that Thanos propbaby could have collected at least 1 or 2 stones in a previous movie. I mean, it felt like he got the first 5 in like 5 minutes and the rest of the movie was the characters banding together combined with some funny one liners + Thanos and the last two stones.
I did really enjoy the relationship between Thanos & Gamora though, I found it really satisfying!

Oh I totally agree with that the movie was a lot! I also liked the relationship between Thanos and Gamora. I think *that scene* was really well done. So there’s a positive for me haha

Sorry you didn’t enjoy this one! I personally really enjoyed it, I love the humor, the action, and the interaction between MCU characters 😀 And while I know most of the dead will definitely come back (they are like MCU money maker and future) it still didn’t stop the feels to punch me in the gut 😀 I think the movie is so packed it took a while to process, but it was a fun times nonetheless 😀

I always like the humor in Marvel movies so that was definitely a positive for me as well. But yeah…I just didn’t care when they all died except for the few earlier ones >.< haha

I am not into superhero movies (or most movies in general), but I had heard good things about this. My co-blogger even enjoyed it. But you know, the machine has to keep churning out the movies. I hope the next one answers some of your questions.

Ugh no this sounds bad 🙁 I adore Marvel, and I have yet to see this movie, but with so many characters I feel like it could easily become overburdened and stuffy. And also, like you say, of course they’re not dead. Which is annoying, cos lies. Grrr.

It was essentially just a bunch of cameos because of how many characters there were haha

Yeah… I wanted to feel emotional about this movie but I couldn’t. Everyone is so SHOOK but there’s a TIME STONE. LOL
I also felt like he got all the stones WAY TOO EASILY.

I agree that they should have made this the last one and that as that. I’m still interested to see how Avengers 4 will turn out, but I admittedly have super hero fatigue. There’s maybe 1 or 2 standalone I’m interested in seeing in the future, but after 2019 I think I’m going to have to sit out MCU for awhile. My brain is turning to mush from all these movies. At the same time, part of the fun for me is the fandom and getting to hear what people think about all the other movies and this one.

YES. I am not shook. lol

I noticed that I’m taking longer and longer to actually see the movies. My husband and I used to go opening weekend and now we usually just wait for it to come to rental on the xbox >.< So, I might be giving up too lol
