My Rating:5 Stars

Are you looking for a great thriller? Do you like to yell at the screen? Do you like suspense?

Watch this. Seriously.

This is an independent film that was released directly to Netflix. I didn’t have high expectations because of the straight-to-on-demand release, but I was MORE than pleasantly surprised. I watched this with my family and we were all so into it.

That main character is not only deaf but she also does not have the ability to speak. It works so well with a thriller like this. The film becomes dependent on sound effects, her inner monologues, and visuals (aka gore). Don’t worry, it doesn’t over do it with the gore.

Her speech and hearing disabilities also mean she’s kind of shit outta luck a lot. He can hear her, she can’t hear him. Just by saying that you have to know how suspenseful this can get. There were many build ups to jump scares – you won’t be disappointed.

Also, the actress, Kate Siegal, does a fantastic job of portraying a character who can’t speak or hear. Her facial expressions definitely sell it. On top of that, the screenplay, which is co-written by Siegal, created realistic reactions from a woman living by herself in the woods. She’s quick thinking and resourceful. So, in a sense, it’s believable.

But it’s not flawless. It’s definitely one of those movies where you yell at the screen and question some of the character’s decisions. Isn’t that the best part of these movies, though? If you’re looking for a good jump-scare thriller, this is for you.

Bonus points: It’s on Netflix. AND the main character is an author 😉

P.S. – I obviously wrote this review while still on my high from the film xD But, really, it is good!

I’ll admit, I definitely skimmed right past this one when I saw it on Netflix recently. It honestly sounded really cheesy and I’ve had SO many misses with Netflix horror films. Maybe I’ll give this one a chance though since you say it’s amazing! I’m curious, can the viewer hear what’s going on? Or do we -only- hear her internal monologue? Thanks for sharing! 😀

I was skeptical too! But I really enjoyed it. I thought it was pretty good for what it was. Netflix definitely has some terrible horror movies on there though xD Also, you can hear what’s going on! It’s just like a regular movie, she just can’t hear so it add suspense.

Okay I don’t usually watch movies like this, but it does look like kind of creepy fun. And that guy is definitely looking pretty twisted… I watched the trailer and maybe I’ll give this one a try. She needs a good mean dog or something… 🙂

Let me know what you think! I thought it was a great thriller. Not perfect, but definitely had some scare jumps and a few scenes of gore that I had to look away xD

I don’t think I can watch it! My anxiety will sky-rocket. My heart rate goes really fast when I watch suspenseful movies so I can’t imagine with this one *covers face*

I love thrillers and totally would have never found this on Netflix (mostly because I have the hardest time navigating to search unless I have a title in mind).
