I Heart #Bookstagram Tag

bookstagram-2

I saw this tag on Alice’s (The Geeky Burrows) blog and decided to do it! I mean, I love Instagram. It’s where I started this whole adventure! I did tweak this a bit, so if you want the original, go here ! Also, I tag anyone who feels like doing this 🙂

What’s your Instagram handle? @mollysbooknook

How long have you been in the bookstagram community? About 2 years, I believe. My IG was personal at first, and it slowly morphed into a bookstagram account. Sorry, not sorry, RL family and friends  😆

How many people do you follow? 718

How many followers do you have? 4,611 (ya’ll are awesome humans)

What are your favorite hashtags? #bibliophile | #bookstagram | #bookworm

What is your favorite genre of pictures? Because I only post photos of books, I’m going to change this question to “What is your theme?” Well, folks, it changes. Sometimes I have a white background and sometimes I go outside. I get bored with taking photos in the same spot easily. HOWEVER, I recently changed to a white/wood theme and I am enjoying it so far!

How often do you post? This has changed throughout the year. I used to post twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Then it went to once a day. Then it went to a few times  a week. Now, I’m back to once a day. There is no method to my madness.

How often do you check Instagram? All. Duh. Tyme.

What’s your favorite filter? I don’t use filters via IG. I do use the editing tools, though. I mainly use VSCO, Aviary and Enlight to do even more edits if needed. Each do something different for me.

iPhone only, purist or rebel?  I only use my iPhone but I don’t really have another option. So…

What is the best part about being in this community? I’m surrounded by people with similar interests as me! I don’t have a lot of friends that read the same books as me, so it’s been the best part of this whole thing. Also, finding out about events! It was because of bookstagram that I found out about Yallwest (which is an amazing weekend event!)

yallwest

What is the worst part about being in this communityWhen I lack creativity for pictures. I hit “photo slumps” a lot and it’s incredibly frustrating. That’s usually when I’ll go days without posting, then I get this feeling that everyone will be angry that I went MIA (which is never the case).

Three favorite IG accounts currently? Considering I follow over 700 people, it’s going to be impossible to only choose three. So, I’ll just share 10, because logic.

  • Lauren from @fictiontea – I’m obsessed with her camera angles and how her photos are so simple yet beautiful
  • Hikari from @foldedpagesdistillery – Her photos are always just so fun. She’s one of those girls that can put all the random stuff in a photo and make it look AMAZING.
  • Hannele from @hanpula – FOREVER GUSHING over her colors. Especially since it’s fall. They’re beautiful!
  • Nina from @tender.curiosity – Her feed is just so bright and refreshing, and she reads books other than YA.
  • Genesis from @lattenightsbooks – Coffee. Coffee. Coffee. Coffeeeeeeee. The end.
  • CiCi from @therusticwindow – Oh. My. God. I have no words. Her feed just leaves me speechless.
  • Rachel from @beautyandthebookshelf – I have mad respect for this woman. She puts so much effort into her photos and it definitely pays off.
  • Courtney from @thelittlestbookelf – Looking at her feed is like walking into an antique shop and I love it.
  • Erin from @booksinthewild – I will forever be jealous of where she lives. I already asked if we could switch places, she said no (but offered a couch to sleep on ;P )
  • Liz from @alaskanbookadventures – I’m in love with her bright and vibrant colors!

I’m probably the worst photographer you know, seriously. Even though, I adore my camera, I almost NEVER take pictures because they always seem to fail. I’m fascinated by how people do it. Bookstagrams look AMAZING, well the ones I’ve seen. 😀

I don’t even have a fancy camera D: I want one but OMG are they pricey! And to get it JUST for instagram is a little too far hahah

Yay! So glad you decided to do the tag too 🙂 It’s always nice reading the answers of the other people 🙂

Yay! I thought IG needed a little more love in the blog community haha It’s never talked about!

Ooh I think I’ll probably give this tag a go, my style is pretty minimalistic as far as it goes. I don’t have that many props on hand, though I plan to pick some up in the future. I had real good lighting in my old house, but my new room gete no light, except for like one hour in morning, so usually i have to drag my butt into the living room to take photos.

    • Reply Molly 10/27/2016 at 2:57 pm

AH YES the struggle of lighting. I’m the same way. The lighting NEVER looks the same in my photos hahah Also, I go through phases with props. Sometimes I love them, sometimes I hate them. It’s so much work to use props, so sometimes I just say F it. Do what you want to do! 🙂

I joined bookstagram this year, and I’m completely obsessed! I wish that I could do all the those crazy photos that some people do, but I mainly just take pictures of book spies. I know that everybody talks about taking photos behind a neat background, and this is the rule that I ALWAYS break! So if you look closely, you can sometimes see my unmade bed of unfolded laundry. Oops. 🙂

It’s a great community! I usually jump around with themes and what not. Its hard to do sometimes though. Like right now, it’s been so gloomy that I can’t take photos! AGH

Ooh this is an interesting tag! I don’t have any bookstagram though, my photography skills is just no xD I really like your feed, it’s so clean <3

    • Reply Molly 10/27/2016 at 2:55 pm

Aw! it’s a lot of fun, so you should give it a try anyways! Mine weren’t so great in the beginning either haha Also, thank you! 🙂

Ohh this is fun! I like bookstagram in theory, though I am kind of bad at it hahah. I can’t do “theme”, because frankly I don’t have the attention span. And I don’t really think I have gotten into it enough to enjoy the whole community aspect- I feel like for the most part, I just follow bloggers that happen to also do bookstagram- though I DO follow non-bloggers, I don’t really know what to “say” to people I guess haha.

    • Reply Molly 11/07/2016 at 1:08 am

Oh girl, I feel you. I didn’t do a theme for a while but now I do. I change it a lot though because I just get so bored. I guess I just find it easier to interact on there because that’s where I started. I usually just reply to something in the caption, a lot of people even do a question of the day/question in the caption so that makes it even easier!
