Would You Rather (Book Tag)

I found this tag from Wordy & Whimsical – you can read their post here. It’s called the The Would You Rather tag. I haven’t done a tag in ages and I felt this one would be  simple and fun! If you want to do it yourself, I tag you!

WOULD YOU RATHER. . .

only read physical books for the rest of your life or only audiobooks?

Oh, this is a hard one! As much as I prefer physical books, I can see the benefit of listening to audiobooks – especially with children. I would get a lot more reading done with audiobooks, but then what if the narrator to a book I’m looking forward to just…sucks? Also, there’s just something different about holding the book in your hand! Besides, eventually Emerson will be a grown-up and out of the house 😆

VERDICT: PHYSICAL BOOKS 4 LYFE

🤍🤍🤍

know all the spoilers before you start a book or never read the last chapter?

This one is hard, too! A lot of the times that last chapter is basically just an epilogue that doesn’t really matter, but what if its not?! What if it contains an intense plot twist to lead into the next book?! As for spoilers, it would suck to know everything, but I guess it could feel like when you rewatch a favorite show…? Plus, it could potentially save me from reading some really bad books (I once googled the plot for Under the Dome because I had gotten 200 pages in and was bored, I’m so glad I did that so I didn’t have to suffer through the rest of the book – which, by the way, is 1074 pages)

VERDICT: ALL THE SPOILERS!

🤍🤍🤍

be stuck on a very long train/plane ride with a book you hate or no book at all?

Honestly, I probably wouldn’t read either way. I always bring a book with me when travelling and I never actually open it. I just order cocktails and watch a movie. So this one is easy…

VERDICT: NO BOOK, GIVE ME DRINKS

🤍🤍🤍

read a book with a really bad ending or a book where your favourite character is killed off?

Look, I get it, you don’t want your favorites killed…but what if you go through the whole book, loving this character, but their ending is really shitty anyways? I don’t know, I’d rather a shocking end to my favorite character than a disappointing ending. Give me the drama!

VERDICT: KILL THE FAVES

🤍🤍🤍

love a book everyone hates or hate a book everyone loves?

Ooohhhh okay, so if I have a book everyone loves, that makes some interesting conversation (also, it might convince me to give it another shot – kind of like I’m planning to do with Shatter Me, which was horendous when I read it). However, if I love a book everyone hates, I’d be alone with my love for the book. Most people don’t want to talk about books they hate! So…

VERDICT: HATE A BOOK EVERYONE LOVES

🤍🤍🤍

read books by your favorite author but they’re all really bad, or read books by an author you hate but they’re all really good?

I don’t get this one…I would have a favorite author because their books are good. They wouldn’t be my favorite author if all their books were really bad. If I read books by the same author and they were all really good, well that author would be a favorite. I don’t get it.

VERDICT: HUH?

🤍🤍🤍

only ever read contemporary books for the rest of your life or fantasy?

I love contemporary when I need some good fluffy love. While I definitely go towards contemporary when I need a bit of a break from fantasy worlds, I love fantasy. There is more variety with fantasy. Besides, fantasy can include romance while contemporary can’t really include magical sword fights and dragons.

VERDICT: FANTASY FTW!

🤍🤍🤍

own a signed edition or a first edition?

While first editions are nice and brag-worthy, I love all my signed editions. Most of them are signed because I got the chance to actually meet the author. They’re personalized with my name or a note, and I have photos with some of those authors. So they mean more to me than any first edition I have (I don’t even know if I have one).

VERDICT: SIGNED BOOKS!

🤍🤍🤍

never be able to borrow a book from the library again or never reread your favorite book?

I don’t do either of these things anyways 😆 I never go to the library and I’ve only ever reread a book one time (The Hobbit). However, I do plan on rereading The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I also want to reread some YA books that I loved 10 years ago and want to see if I would still love them.

VERDICT: NEVER BORROW FROM THE LIBRARY

🤍🤍🤍

spend the day in your favorite fictional world but never meet your favorite character, or spend the day as the villain and try to attack/kill that favorite character?

Oh, this is so easy. My favorite fictional world is Middle Earth. I want to explore! I don’t really have a favorite character to begin with, so I’m totally fine with just wandering around!

VERDICT: LIVE IN THE SHIRE AND GO ON ADVENTURES!

🤍🤍🤍

As much as I love audio books, I’d have to choose physical books, too. There have been a couple instances where I took such a dislike to a narrator and it totally ruined the story for me. I pay no mind to if a book is a first edition. I mean, what does it even really matter? lol But I adore my signed books and the memories I have of meeting the authors. 🙂

Oh my gosh, the narrator is everythinggggg. Some are just so bad lol and exactly! The memories of meeting the authors is more important to me 🙂

I agree with most of these too! At first I was going to disagree with the plane reading one, but then you are honestly SO right, because I rarely read anyway! You have the layovers and such, plus the past few times I have flown, I have fallen asleep (this is so weird because I NEVER used to!) Actually, the only one we disagree on is the hate versus love- I’d rather love a book I guess, regardless? Especially because I always feel like I am missing something when I hate the thing everyone loves and I start questioning my judgement hah

I CANNOT fall asleep on the plane lol It’s so uncomfortable! But I do love me a rum and coke on the plane 😀 I feel like I question my judgement either way really. If I love something, what did I miss? If I hated it, what did I miss?! hahah Problems of a indecisive reader.
