The Sunday Post: Where the Heck Have I Been?

Every other week I participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. The meme is weekly, every Sunday, but I’ve decided to do it bi-weekly since I don’t usually have that much to share every single week. So, here are some updates from the last 2 weeks! (But this is an automated prompt for this template I’ve created so really this is an update of the last almost 9 months!)

Hello, friends! I has been a hot minute since I have posted to my blog. If you follow me on Instagram, I have been plenty active there. The blog on the other hand? It didn’t just go on the backburner; it went all the way in the back of the pantry where all the forgotten holiday baking staples migrated and aren’t seen again until they’re thrown away and replaced the next time I get the sudden urge to become Betty Crocker for Christmas.

I didn’t intend for that to happen – hence the lack of a “I’m going on a break/hiatus” type post. Life has just been the busiest it has ever been in my life.

WHERE I’VE BEEN

I’ll try summarizing as much as I can. First, we sold our condo back in July, moving back into my parents’ house. It was quite a change because this time we had a toddler in tow. There was a lot of work to make space for us, even if it was just temporary. See, the plan was to live there for however long it took all of us to buy a place together (which, with this market, we had no idea how long that would be). Well, it ended up taking just a few months because we closed on our new home in early November! It’s a beautiful home that ticked all the boxes for us – in the same city, enough bedrooms for all of us, a nice neighborhood, has a pool, and had just been completely remodeled by the original owners (whose family had lived here since it was built in the 60’s) – that’s why we jumped on it!

That also meant another move after we just settled into my parents’ house. The big difference is that we also had to move my parents who had lived in my childhood home since 1990. There was a lot of stuff and that’s an understatement. This on top of the escrow process, a toddler, and just having to keep the basics of the house functioning, my mental health really took a dive. I don’t think I’ve ever been so mentally exhausted in my life. I barely read anything so there was absolutely no way I could handle blogging (which my abandonment of was an added stressor).

WHAT NOW?

With all that said, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We are now moved in (even if there is still quite a bit to unpack and new furniture to buy) and my mental health is returning to normal. My books are now out of their boxes (which they have been in since July 2021), I have time to myself, everyone is settled in and adjusted. Which means I have time to blog again – which I so greatly missed.

I’m not going to include what I’ve been reading lately and all that in this post because I just wanted to update you guys on life today. I’ll have plenty of time to review and chat about all the nerdy things later. With this post I simply wanted to update you and tell you how I much I have missed my blogging friends. We don’t all keep in touch across other platforms so there are so many of you that I have greatly missed chatting with via blogging!

If you ended up on this post but are new here, hello! Welcome! I can’t wait to get to know you.

If you got all the way to this point, thank you so much! It honestly means the world to me to know there are people out there that still care.

Now it’s your turn! Tell me anything you’ve been up to! How were your holidays? Have you read anything absolutely amazing lately? Any new developments in your life? Tell me anything!

I’m glad you were able to make changes to improve your living situation. We got a new house in the summer of 2019 and it was a lot of work, still a bit more to do, but we are living in a better situation.

Moving is so much work but also an opportunity to get rid of things you are no longer using. I’m glad you’re settling in well to your new home.

Hopefully you’ll be able to read more and won’t feel so exhausted. Luckily Spring is around the corner, which always makes me feel a bit more energized 🙂

Moving is exhausting, but when it is to your own home it can be just as thrilling. It’s my first time here. Nice to meet you.

It sounds like you have been busy since you last checked in! I am glad you were able to find a new home. I hate moving, but the relief of having it done and being in a new place is reward itself. My mom moved the end of October and is still not completely unpacked. Part of that is because she had to downsize so there isn’t room for everything. She’d gotten rid of a lot before she moved too. Her former next door neighbor gives her reports on her old house regularly now. LOL I hope you have a great weekend and weekend.

Moving is the worst. Adding moving a hoarder on top of that made it even more stressful lol But I’m glad to be done, mostly. At least with the moving OUT part. I have to admit, we also check in on our old home every now and then. It’s hard not to be curious! It’s getting completely remodeled and I lived there for THIRTY years. haha

Welcome back! What a whirlwind! Moving is hard work—mentally and physically. We just moved my middle child out and I definitely felt the brain fog. Congrats on the new home and settling in. Happy reading!

Thank you! Moving is no fun at all, then adding a hoarder on top of it, man…it was a lot lol
