The Sunday Post: Sushi, Movies, & Later Wakings!

Every other week I participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. The meme is weekly, every Sunday, but I’ve decided to do it bi-weekly since I don’t usually have that much to share every single week. So, here are some updates from the last 2 weeks!

→ On my last Sunday Post I asked you guys when you write yours and a lot of you shared the tip of jotting down in the draft things that happen to you during the week. So, I started doing that and it proved it be very helpful in writing this post. I just wrote out a few “exciting” things that happened to me and viola! a whole post has come out of it. No more digging in my memory for what the heck I did the last two weeks lol Thank you, everyone!

An update on Emerson’s sleep: he is waking up later! YAY! He’s been sleeping until 6:30 – 7:00 am. I’m now trying to push him to that 7:00 am wake up time because that would be a glorious 12 hours! However, with this shift, he’s only taking 1 nap a day now 😆 Which is fine, but, the nap is super inconsistent! Sometimes he naps at 10 and wakes up at 11. Sometimes he naps at 11 and wakes up at 1. Which means my “Nap Hustle” time (aka, when I get shit done) is now unpredictable. It’s so chaotic I even had my mom come over and babysit the other day so I could clean my home!

→ A few things I did the last two weeks: We took Emerson out for sushi for the first time! He’s had sushi (meaning a california roll lol), but always as take-out. This time we took him to our favorite restaurant! He was an angel, even though we did have to clean up the floor a bit 😆 Also, on Saturday (I’m writing this on Friday), we are going to see Godzilla Vs Kong in THEATERS! Our movie theater finally opened and I feel like this is a movie that deserves the big screen. I decided my dinner on Saturday is going to be junk food from the concession stand because we haven’t been inside a movie theater in so freaking long! I’m going to spend alllll my money hahaha

Xenos by Dan Abnett
Goodreads

This is a book set in the Warhammer universe. It’s the first in a set of 3 trilogies. It’s taking me a bit longer to get through it because it’s not my normal genre. It’s just sci-fi, no romance gasp! But it’s been a fun ride so far. Also, my husband is listening to the audio while I’m reading the book so it’s nice to actually be reading something together.

Namesake by Adrienne Young
Goodreads

I think I’m going to read this one next because after Xenos, I need something a little more light and easy to read. And short. A shorter book so I feel like I’m actually making progress in my tbr. Is anyone else such a slow reader that long books stress them out because it takes forever and you have all these other books screaming at you to be read and you start drowning in your tbr? Because same.

How have you been? Any fun news?

I’m so glad the sleep issue has gotten better and that the suggestions helped on your post. Sounds like everything is looking up. Happy Easter!

Yay for longer sleep hours for you. You definitely need every minute of it. Emerson must have been happy to finally get outside. Hope you guys enjoyed the movie!! I think I’ve been seeing Namesake quite a lot. Hope you enjoy it.
Have a great week ahead, Molly!

Ahh yes, it’s nice to have a little longer on weekends. I wake up at 4am during the week but it’s still nice to have those few hours to myself before he wakes up so I can do things like this – blog! I’m reading Namesake right now and I’m enjoying it. Hope you have a good week as well 🙂

We are being extra cautious about going out anywhere until we are fully vaccinated. But the spring weather is lovely and we are getting the yard all set to go.

Totally understandable! I felt pretty ok at the theaters. Our theater has assigned seating and these big recliner chairs (not typical movie theater chairs) and they put every group at least 4 seats away from each other (so with those recliner chairs is a lot of space) haha. That’s nice to get the yard ready for warmer weather! I got a new patio set last month so that I can start sitting outside with my son during the day!

I hope you enjoy those books! I recently bought Fable by Adrienne Young, so I’m excited to start it.
    Have a great week!

I can’t wait to return to watching movies in a cinema! I hope you had a great time.

I love going to the movie theater, too! It’s one of the things we missed most. Hope you had a great time!

Yay for sushi! Start ’em out early haha!!

I saw Godzilla vs Kong and I agree- it is a big screen movie. Some just need to be seen that way. and same here- it was my first time in a theater in AGES and it was nice to be back. Plus popcorn haha. Hope you guys liked the movie!

    • Reply Molly's Book Nook 04/06/2021 at 5:38 am

hahah exactly! We get sushi A LOT so he needs to like it with it lol And yes! It totally deserved the big screen. I enjoyed the movie, typical action-y flick haha Hope you liked it as well!

Hope you had fun at the movies! I haven’t been to a theater in ages… 2-3 years maybe? Just not a big movie person and it’s rare there’s anything I’m super excited to see. But concession food is always fun. LOL

Oh I love movies and we used to go all the time so I was super excited! It was fun! I actually like the Covid policies in place too…people are farrrr away from you in the theater so no chance of sitting next to some weirdo taking up all the space hahah

Sleep is such treasure when you have a baby! And yes, it’s hard to get things done if they don’t take a long enough nap. Hope you enjoyed the movie!

Happy reading and thanks for visiting my Sunday Post! 🙂

It is! I’m so happy to get a full night sleep now. I don’t even remember what it’s like waking up every 2 hours. Or having him wake up at 3:45-4:00 am lol. Happy reading!

I left a comment earlier this morning. Not sure why it doesn’t show up, but thanks for visiting my SP. 🙂

I’m glad to read you’re getting more sleep. Recently our baby boy was born, so I rarely get any sleep at the moment. Especially since our toddler is only sleeping till 6 a.m. every morning. Sigh.. But it will get better!! Hopefully 😀
And how fun that you were able to go to the theater. I can’t wait for things to open up here too.
Have a great week and happy reading.

Aww! That’s so exciting! Yeah, I was up every 2 hours with my son when he was first born and I didn’t even start sleep training till 9 months (I don’t know why I did that to myself, even my pediatrician was surprised I was waking up so often by that age lol). But yes, it does get better! I don’t even remember what it’s like to wake up that often anymore hahah

I am so glad Emerson is sleeping later. Now can you help me get my daughter to go to sleep earlier?! I hope you enjoy the movie! I don’t know when I’ll feel up to going to the theater again. We are starting to do other things though. Baby steps. 🙂 I hope you are enjoying your reading and week!

    • Reply Molly's Book Nook 04/09/2021 at 4:55 am

haha! Emerson is slowly going to bed later actually! He used to go to sleep at 6-630 but now its been more like 7-730 >.< The movie was good! It was fun and I felt safe there. Granted our theater has those big recliner seats so each row is pretty far apart and they left 4 seats in between each party, which is over 6 feet. If it was the traditional movie theater seats where everything is close together, I might have felt differently. Go when you're ready to! Hope you have a good week :)

That’s how I write my Sunday posts as well, I just just down a note or two when something happens and then on Saturday I just have to expand on that. That’s awesome Emerson is sleeping later, although that sounds unhandy his nap time now varies so much. How fun you got to go out for a movie and sushi dinner this week.

    • Reply Molly's Book Nook 04/13/2021 at 6:13 am

Yes! It makes it much easier to remember what the heck I did all week lol Yeah, his naps are everywhere. lol Now he’s back to 2 naps? I don’t know, he’s confusing! >.<

  • Reply A Voracious Reader 04/11/2021 at 7:26 am

It’s always so glorious when little ones start sleeping through the night. The nap thing though, I have no suggestions there. Godzilla vs Kong was a pretty good movie!

    • Reply Molly's Book Nook 04/13/2021 at 6:13 am

Isn’t it?! hahaha He’s been sleeping through the night for a while but boy am I loving this later wake up. I get like 3 hours to myself every morning! It’s wonderful 🙂
