August Wrap-Up & September TBR

I cannot believe August is over and it is now September! My little boy is turning 9 months old in 9 days and I just…what? Where has the time gone? I thought with all the Covid-19 shut downs that time would go by so slow but apparently not! Speaking of shut downs…my state is slowly opening? I don’t know, Gov. Newsom keeps moving the goal posts. My county was off the watch list last week and literally 2 days later we’re in the top tier of the new reopening system…meaning it’ll take longer for us to open certain things. It’s all very confusing. How is your area doing? Is it opening things yet?

→ With that said…my hairstylist gets to reopen! I haven’t gotten my hair cut since early pregnancy (over a year ago) so I absolutely jumped on making an appointment with her. I am finally getting a hair cut NEXT WEEK. I know this sounds silly, but I’m Greek meaning my hair is long, thick, and dry. I’m super excited to get this mane tamed. Luckily, my hairstylist is a one-woman show with her own studio. So it will just be me and her with masks on, so that eases any worry! Wow, that was a long paragraph about getting my hair cut. Can you tell I’m excited?

→ In my bookish life, I have been doing great! I’ve been making reading more of a priority. It feels so good to not endlessly scroll social media and instead immerse myself in magical worlds! I’m also finding more of a groove with blogging. I’m not quite 100% there yet, especially with blog hopping, but I’m working on it! Schedules and planning ahead is helping. Also, I’ve starting writing fiction again. I always start a story then drop it a few days later, but I’ve been more consistent lately (I’ve been writing the backstory to my DnD character). I’m considering participating in NaNoWriMo again this year, but with a smaller word goal.

I had such a good reading month! I haven’t read this many books in one month in a very long time. I haven’t written a review for all of these yet but the ones I have, I linked the review. You can also click the titles of the books to go to the Goodreads page!

Bonus:
When Water Sang Fire from The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo: I only read this one story because it fit a prompt for one of the readalongs – but it was a good story! It’s the last one in the book. It made me want to read the rest!

I decided not to take part in any readalongs or challenges this month so my September TBR is just a bunch of books that I really want to read (plus 1 book club book). You can click the titles of the book to go to the Goodreads page!

How was August for you? Did you read a lot? A little? What are your life and bookish plans for September?

Glad you had a good month!! I get what you mean about the joy of getting a haircut, mine got SO out of control these past few months and it felt lovely to finally get it tamed!! (: Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on House in the Cerulean Sea! Have a lovely September! ♥

Oh man, I only have one more day and I get to tame the mane! lol I’m so excited. Happy reading!

I can totally relate to the hair cut. I haven’t gotten mine cut in over 5 months and it’s so long, it’s ridiculous. I have to make an appointment because it just grows too fast and it’s out of control.

OK honesty, I don’t know what is open or what isn’t because we just stay home other than pickups and have deliveries. North Carolina is not totally open but we have a bunch of rednecks here who aren’t interested in any rules. Over the last 15 years , I cut my hair for Locks of Love every 2-3 years so I barely cut it. I’ve given 10 inches 6 times. So I’m used to not cutting my hair very often. I’m hoping it is finally going to cool down from 90s to 80s soon.

Yeah, I know things are starting to open now but we literally go nowhere lol I use Amazon for groceries most of the time and get everything we need delivered >.< Our county finally went into the 3rd level of the new plan which means more things can open so that's good! We're getting there lol

Looks like you got some good reads read this August! And that’s nice you can go to the hairdresser again soon and that sounds relatively safe too with how she has her own studio and you’ll both be wearing a mask. I live in the Netherlands and we opened back up a few months ago already as our cases went down, we just recently got a bit of a second wave, but everything’s still open. We still have the whole social distancing going on and stores limit how many people can go inside, so there are still some precautions in place luckily.

Good luck with your September TBR list and I hope you can get most of those read and that they are good books.

Ah, that’s good things are open for you guys! Things are slowly opening here. My county is now in 3rd tier of the plan which means things can open at about 50% capacity and more places can open in general. Still with guidelines and what not, but opening is good! Hopefully things stay this way 🙂 Happy reading!

Looks like you’ve got a great list of books to go through this month! Hope they’re as good as those that you went through last month! 😀 Watch out for that kid of yours! Next thing you know, your boy is going to be your height and talking to you with sophisticated sentences! 😛

Oh gosh, right!? He’s already getting so big. There are gates around everything. He needs to stay little for longer lol

I still haven’t managed to get a haricut since the pandemic started. I was loving my purple hair, so I really need to get it done again!

Hopefully you will be able to get it done soon! Purple sounds fun! I haven’t done a fun color in ages haha

I’ve loved Brigid Kemmerer’s contemporary novels but I’m not much of a fantasy reader. Even so, I’ve had my eye on A Curse So Dark Lonely for quite a while now. Maybe I should give it a go. Even though I don’t read fantasy, I do know that I love Kemmerer’s writing.

I’ve never read her contemporary stuff but I think I’m going to have to check them out. I enjoyed her writing 🙂

You’re right – time should have frozen this year, but it flied like nobody’s business! And yay for getting your hair done! I can relate to writing a whole paragraph about it LOL – we had a 3 month lockdown during the spring, and I needed a dye job and a perm SO BADLY. I refused to dye my hair at home because it’s a painful job to do on your own, you know? But I’m an old lady with TONS of white on my head, and I looked hideous LOL. Anyhow, I hope things are looking up for your corner of the world…though of course the global situation is still a mess 😟.

Oh gosh yes! I would never dye my hair at home again lol Especially because I have highlights. I would easily mess it up. and 3 months?! Ours went for like 6 months and we’re still not fully open! Our county is doing a bit better than others in the state, though, so thats good. More is open here.
