An Arthurian Adventure: My Mythothon TBR

I discovered a new April readathon event! I love readathons because they always motivate me and help me choose what to read 😆 I discovered Mythothon and thought it looked like a lot of fun! I loved the Arthurian theme. Basically, you join a team (Morgan le Fay, Merlin, or Nimue) and read the challenge prompt, then read a book for a prompt for each of King Aruthur’s knights. There’s no pressure with the rules which is my favorite kind of readathon (meaning I can change my TBR if I want and I can double up on the prompts).

If you want more detailed information, check out the original post on Foxes and Fairy Tales.

I’m choosing Namesake by Adrienne Young for obvious reasons. Actually, at first, I wasn’t even going to purchase this book. While I enjoyed Fable, I didn’t love it. I just wasn’t super interested in continuing her story. However, bookstagram convinced me. I’ve been seeing it everywhere and it has received great reviews so far. Plus, those photos with the books lined up so the faces match are super satisfying to see.

  • KING ARTHUR: FEATURING ROYALTY – I’m choosing A Vow So Bold and Deadly. Again, for obvious reasons. I loved the first two books and I can’t wait to find out what happens!
  • SIR LANCELOT: FAVE AUTHOR – In preparation of the tv show, I (like so many others) want to reread Shadow & Bone! I’d like to reread Six of Crows (but it kind of looks like the show doesn’t really follow that book at all except for the characters).
  • SIR GAWAIN: GREEN – I’ve had the ARC of Sweet Black Waves sitting on my shelves for yearsssssss. I’m finally going to (hopefully) pick it up. Plus, it’s super fitting for this challenge.
  • SIR PERCIVAL: SHINY COVER – I’m doubling up the prompts and using Shadow & Bone for this one too! The edition I am using has shiny gold on it.
  • SIR BORS: A SEQUEL – Another one I’m doubling up on with Namesake. I do have another option to read the second book in the Eisenhorn Trilogy but I figured I’d make it easier on myself and choose a book I’m already reading.
  • SIR LAMORAK: UNDER-HYPEDViper is a book that I’ve been seeing a bit more of because of a recent blog/bookstagram tour but it sounds so good and most likely will deserve more love than it has gotten so far! I’m excited to read it. Look at that cover!

  • SIR KAY: SIBLING RELATIONSHIPWhat My Sister Knew is a book my mom bought me. I don’t know much about it but it seems like a thriller that definitely will have a significant sibling relationship of some kind (even if its dysfunctional).
  • SIR GARETH: RECENT ADDITION TO MY TBR – I’m choosing an April BOTM choice. I’m leaning towards reading The Hunting Wives. It sounds intriguing but not as sad as my other BOTM choice (which was What Happens After).
  • SIR BEDIVER: SOMETHING POINTY ON COVERThe Last Wish! Because there is a sword. Also, there is a bookstagram readalong happening so it fits another challenge I’m doing!
  • SIR GALAHAD: TITLE STARTS WITH GGirl, Serpent, Thorn is a book that has been on my shelf for ages and I’ve only ever seen good things about it but for some reason I’m always hesitant to pick it up. So, here’s me attempting to read it this month.
  • SIR TRISTAN: LEGENDARY ROMANCE – This one was kind of hard for me to choose because I don’t know which ones have a legendary romance…but I decided to go with Sweet Black Waves since it’s a retelling of Tristan and Isolde of some kind.
  • SIR GAHERIS: AN AUDIOBOOK – I’m currently listening to The Burning Girls but I’m only about an hour into it, so I’m counting it as an April read.

Goodreads
I chose The Lost Apothecary. It’s based in London, which I have never been. It’s also the book choice the Read Rover Book Club I joined this month so two birds, one stone.

LEGENDBORN
GROUP BOOK

Goodreads
This isn’t required and there isn’t a discussion or anything for it, but I wanted to include it in the TBR because I do own it and would like to try to get to it!

Have you read any of these? Which should I start with? Will you participate in the readathon? You can join whenever!

I’m actually excited to reread Shadow & Bone! I don’t usually reread but I forgot a lot of that book and I always claim it’s one of my favorites lol

readathons are fun especially picking out the books with all the fun prompts! I read Shadow and Bone years ago as well but I never read the rest of the series. I’ll probably still end u watching the adaptation though. Who knows, maybe that motivates me to pick up the books. Good luck with the readathon, Molly!
