The Sunday Post: Home from Camping, Back to the Real World

Every other week I participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. The meme is weekly, every Sunday, but I’ve decided to do it bi-weekly since I don’t usually have that much to share every single week. So, here are some updates from the last 2 weeks!

Well, we went camping! It was lots of fun. We caught a total of about 8 fish (3 by me 🙂 ) We saw some deer, made some s’mores, and relaxed! I, surprisingly, didn’t even read and barely took any photos? So much for taking my own advice with my camping post last week (although, I did take 5 books with me). Here are some photos from the trip:

Left to right: the view from our campsite, the fishing hole we caught most of our fish at, some of the fish we caught!

Photos of the lake! This is my favorite lake in the area. We ended up meeting my dad there later and, without cell phone service to find people, that’s very difficult 😆 We ended up hiking our way to the wrong side of the lake when we saw my dad fishing on the other side. Then had to find our way to his side. So, this is a photo of us already over it hahaha

A bonus one of my dog because he’s a cutie. He usually hates camping. He doesn’t like dirt or water. This time, he voluntarily WALKED into the lake! AND would regularly lay in the dirt in the sun. We were surprised!

Now it’s back to the real world including some serious prepping for baby! I have gotten literally nothing done. So first, I’ll be planning our baby shower! Second, I’m finally getting new bookshelves! I know that doesn’t sound like baby prepping, but it is. All of my books are currently in HIS room. So, I need to find a new spot for them – which is downstairs where I will have a WALL OF SHELVES. I’m so excited! From there, I can start prepping the rest of his room 🙂

I’ll be starting Daughter of the Siren Queen because I recently finished Station Eleven and HATED IT. I needed something that I will most likely enjoy. I really liked the first book so I’m hoping this one lives up to that. I’ll be reviewing Station Eleven next week, so keep an eye out for that!

I’ll also be starting Daughter of the Forest as a buddy read with Milana from A Couple Reads (part of our 30 before 30 reading challenge).

Can you believe September is almost over?! Are you doing well with your TBR? Do you have any favorite reads? How has the month been for you so far?

Awwww your pupper is so cute!! Also, I tend to take books with me and then not read them…I think it’s more of a comfort thing for me. Hehe.

The place where you were camping looks lovely! I’m not one for camping but I don’t think I’d mind camping in a spot like that.

I hope you enjoy reading Daughter of the Siren Queen more than Station Eleven 🙂

It was very pretty! We’re not too far up the mountain too so we can drive 10 minutes down the road to town and get cell phone service 😉 haha

Aww you got to watch It:chapter Two? I’ve only seen the first chapter(if you will) when the kids were young and I really enjoyed it. I don’t know when I’m going to be able to watch the second chapter. I doubt the book is better in this case but regardless I’m still going to read it 🙂 I hope you’ll get a chance to read it too. I like your camping photos. It sounds like you had a nice time and the place was scenic and gorgeous!

I want to read the book just in case it’s better (I didn’t enjoy either movie, though). And thank you! Hope you have a great week 🙂

Omg, your dog is ADORABLE! Those camping pictures look so nice and relaxing! Glad you had a great week, and fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly preparing for baby!

It looks beautiful where you camped, and three fish! Way to go! That is three more than I would catch. I liked Siren Queen, not as much as Pirate King, but it was still really good. Good luck with the baby’s room. It’s should be a fun project AND you get new shelves out of the deal. Winning.

We cheated a little because they had restocked the day before we caught most of our fish 😉 hehe

That looks like a beautiful area you guys camped in! And I love fresh caught fish. Yum haha!

Aww cute dog! Sounds like he had a blast too 🙂

Daughter of the Siren Queen looks awesome.

That looks like a fabulous camping spot, we used to camp a couple of times a year but haven’t had a chance for a while.

Enjoy planning your baby shower, and have a great reading week

Yeah, we used to go every year but haven’t been consistent with it for a long time. This is our last trip for a while since I am NOT bringing a baby camping lol Hope you have a great week!

Camping looks so much fun! I’d definitely go if there was somewhere that gorgeous near me. And LOOK at that pupper! I love him! I can’t wait to see what you think about Daughter of the Siren Queen. That’s one I still really need to read.

That book got put on hold a little just because I REALLY need to catch up with Daughter of the Forest. The book is kind of long ahaha
