I’M BACK!

Hellooooo friends! I don’t even know where to begin with this post. I haven’t written anything (blog or not) in over a year, I’m a little rusty. This whole thing might end up being a mess, but I wanted to have an official post to say hello to you all! Can you believe it has been a year since I have posted on my blog – but let’s be honest, it’s been longer than that since I’ve actually felt excited about it.

Last year, I decided to take a hiatus (in case you hadn’t noticed). I was losing interest in both reading and blogging – it all felt like a chore. Around that same time, my husband and I purchased our first home! I took that life change as a sign to just take a step back and focus on life outside of my blog. I did not know the hiatus would last as long as it did. I honestly thought I would come back much sooner, hence the lack of an “I’m going on a hiatus” type post. Alas, here we are, a year later.

Anyways, enough of the obvious “I went on a hiatus” stuff, let me give you a quick life update!

Ahhhh, my old headers. It’s good to be back. Well, I’ve already mentioned that we bought our first home together! It has been great! Even our neighbors are awesome – which not everyone can say. I would say we are very lucky and blessed to end up where we did. I would share pictures, but I oddly have none. I never walked through and took fancy photos of our decor. Even if I did, most of it is changing becaauuussseee…

We’re having a baby! Whoa. This is the first time I’ve announced that publicly (don’t worry, our family knows, we just never did a social media announcement). I’m currently 15 weeks and due in December. This will be our first child so I have no idea how that will impact my content (I’m sure it will) and I have no idea how busy I’ll be (I’ve heard all the horror stories), but we’re so excited! Honestly, I don’t have a lot more to add to this life update as we haven’t started the nursery, we don’t even know the gender yet, but I am sure I will be providing updates and sharing progress throughout the year on here and on Instagram.

Here’s our little nugget, who is supposed to be about the size of an apple by now:

Of course I took a photo like this to debut our little one. Also, the books in this photo are all childrens books that we’ve had for a while and I am so so excited to finally be able to use them soon!

→ My blog appearance isn’t going to change. I updated the look right before I went on hiatus and I’m not hating it. What may alter a bit is my content – well, more so my book reviews. One of the reasons I got bored with reading and blogging last year is that I grew tired of YA books. Now, now, I still read them and will still be reviewing them. This time, though, I’m making a commitment to read more categories outside of YA. Other than that, here are some upcoming posts (because y’all know I can’t come back without a schedule planned already):

  • Aurora Rising review
  • A Sims 4 related post (don’t worry, it’s still bookish)

How have all of you been?! Name at least 1 thing that happened to you in the last year that made you happy!
What are you currently reading? I need recommendations!

Welcome back, Molly! I can relate to taking a hiatus from losing interest in reading and blogging. I also started reading and reviewing more books outside of YA after returning from my hiatus. It’s let me to discover new favorite authors. This year, I’m loving Robin Hobb’s Elderling books. She’s a fantastic writer!

Thank you! Yeah, I think I just needed a change of pace with what I was reading. All month my tbr is basically adult fiction/fantasy so I’m excited for that. I don’t know if I’ve heard of the one you mentioned – I’ll have to look into it!

Oh my goodness CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am so very happy and excited for you! If it helps you feel less intimidated about blogging with an extra human, I started my blog the literal day before my second child was born, so. It’s definitely doable- it actually helped me feel like I had a thing I could do for me! But I am also really glad you’re back and that you have such wonderful life news- I feel like we can use more of these happy stories in our lives! Can’t wait for your new posts! 😀

Thank you so much! Also, I am actually concerned with how it will work out but honestly, one of the reasons I picked it back up again is because I thought it would be nice to have a little hobby of my own that’s doable AT home. So I’m definitely glad to know that you made it work – the day BEFORE!! That’s intense, props to you!

Welcome back! I also took a 1-year (maybe more) hiatus. I had to step away. I actually didn’t know if I would come back. But I did and decided to start fresh with a new blog. And it’s been so long since I was so excited to blog so I’m happy about that 🙂
CONGRATS ON THE BABY!!! OMG! THAT’S AMAZING! And on the home, too! That’s so good! I’m glad things are going so well for you 🙂

A break is really nice! It also made me more excited to blog because a year ago I was just so worn out and over it. I’m glad the hiatus helped you with that excitement too 🙂 And Thank you so much!
