6 Books That Gave Me A Case of Wanderlust

I’m sorry if my post from yesterday gave you the creeps. I promise that today there are no gory scenes or possessed girls staring into your soul.

Since I’m leaving today to go camping, I thought I’d share some books that give me a serious case of wanderlust. Whether it be to travel to a fictional land, or just somewhere beautiful in the world, these books made me want to leave my darn house. (This isn’t nearly all of them, btw)

6 Books that gave me a case of wanderlust

Starflight by Melissa Landers

The various locations and space-pirate fun that took place in this book made it look quite fun to be a space pirate! Granted, this one is based in the future — and in space — so traveling to its setting would be rather difficult. However, a girl can dream that one day there will be intergalactic space travel! (Here is my review of this wonderful book, if you’re interested!)

99 Days by Katie Cotugno

99 Days doesn’t travel to another planet, or even a fictional land, it takes place right in our own backyard. It is set in good ole rural America and it just reminds me of a small country town. It made me want to visit the east coast so bad (which is where more of these type of towns are). (Here is my review for this book)

Papertowns by John Green

I wasn’t too fond of this book, however, I’ll give it credit for making me want to go on a road trip with my friends (even if theirs was for more of a depressing reason, it was still funny to read)!

Anna and the french kiss by Stephanie Perkins

If this book didn’t make you want to go to Paris, you’re crazy. Perkins talks so much about the popular Paris monuments and even the city streets lined with cute cafes and indie movie theaters. Yeah, of course, I want to go to Paris after reading this book!

HARRY POTTER by J.K. Rowling

Who doesn’t want to travel to Hogwarts or Diagon Alley? Post-Voldemort. Post-Dementors. Post-anything that can kill you. And what better time to go than during Christmas? (Ps; I haven’t actually read this, but I imagine if I did I would still really want to travel to Hogwarts!)

The Lord of the Rings / The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

This list wouldn’t really be complete without these books on it. Sure, the characters are usually in mortal peril, but they’re surrounded by such beautiful landscapes that you can’t help but want to travel to this imaginary place. Although, you can kind of travel there, hello New Zealand, but there really needs to be a Rivendell somewhere.

A few other honorable mentions: Eat, Pray, Love; Outlander; Game of Thrones; The Grisha Trilogy; Vengeance Road

letsdiscuss

What are some books that give you an itch to travel?

What are some locations, fictional or real, that you would love to visit?

Sometimes I think LOTR is single-handedly responsible for the entirety of New Zealand’s tourism industry hahaha Even if you’re not a fan of the books or movies who can resist those epic green sprawls of land?

You know, you’re probably right xD Kind of like Twilight was single-handedly responsible for Forks tourism hahahaha

It’s a fun book! I highly recommend it! There’s going to be a companion novel next year as well. Also, yes, I definitely want to make a trip to New Zealand some day!

Ugh, no, I never want to go into space. That sounds terrifying. I will happily stay on earth and on land, thank you lol. And I’ve already been all over the US, 46 states and never been in a plane, so I’ve kind of had enough road trips to last me a lifetime. Hogwarts, however, would be very cool to visit. And I’ve never been to Europe! I’ve always wanted to go though at least once since I imagine it would be beautiful and a unique experience.

hahaha I might be too scared to go into space if it ever is happens/is offered to me. BUT SPACE PIRATES. I love it. It reminds me of Treasure Planet and I LOVED that movie when I was a kid hah Also, yeah, I’ve done quite a few road trips in my life but I actually love them. So I would totally do more 😀 I’ve never been to Europe either. My husband and I keep saying “next year we’ll go to scotland” so maybe it will be the year NEXT year haha

The only ones I’ve read on your list are Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, but I absolutely 100% agree with those two! I love when a book is able to transport me to a new place!

Especially when it’s fictional. Although, maybe that sucks because we can’t actually visit the places….. haha

The Lord of the Rings I totally agree with, for the best part of twenty years that book gives me amazing wanderlust but without all those orcs and black riders!

Exactly! Especially when you watch the movies… Hobbiton?! Yes, please!

I totally agree with Anna and the French Kiss. I never understand what’s the fuss about Paris, but when I read that book… Oh my, fly me to Paris now! xD The way the author describes Paris makes me feel like I’m there and taking strolls with the characters. I really love it.

Ah, right?! I love the way she described it in the book 🙂
